Do you consider yourself a solo player?

Any time used to learn something is never wasted or lost.

I have my own personal multibox army because I don’t want to be constrained by the playing times or time zones of others. When I want to do a particular activity, I want to do it now.

When I log on, I’m usually the only corp member logged in. Even when I do see one, I have no idea what system they’re in. Almost everything I do is solo.

I like this quote. The curse of knowing everything or a lot of things Eve will be getting bored and then wanting to quit. Better to be broke and idiot but having fun in the game for a long long time.

73% of respondents considers themselves a solo player is surprising even tho i voted solo myself. I wonder what the percantage would be if you asked in for example WoW or Albion Online community.

WoW, same for me, solo.
Dofus, solo.
No Mans Sky, solo.

Never played Albion online.

I am in a clan in Raid Shadow Legends, yay me

WoW - solo
Albion? Never heard of it
No Man’s Sky - solo though I haven’t played in years. I see it’s gotten a lot better. I should get back into it.

This poll proves that the vast majority plays solo…which CCP should take onto consideration after making solo play as difficult as possible to deliberately force players into corps…and nerfing ships like the Orca that offered some protection from gankers while solo mining… i think this is one of the main reasons that new player retention is so bad and that the total number of players has been steadily decreasing… The new additions to the game gave been great, but they didn’t do anything to stop the decrease of players… New player retention needs to be addressed and leveling the playing field so that solo players are not at a deliberate dissadvantage seems to be the source of this problem… I would suggest actually making solo status a thing with solo bonuses to level the playing field while not being allowed to fleet up while in that state… I love this game and want to see it flourish, but something needs to be done about the current path it is on…

The Orca can have 700K EHP using nothing more than T2 modules. How much more protection do you need?

A poll on this forum represents maybe .001% of the EVE playerbase…

EVE is never going to be a single-player game, no matter how bad you want it to be…

A poll on the forums.

I bet solo players are overrepresented here - non-solo players usually have other places to discuss EVE with peers, like their corp discord and equivalent.

Equity and equality are not the same thing. Why should new players automatically be on-par and able to compete with veteran players who have been playing for 10+ years?

i’m talking about when they took the low slot away about 5 years ago because gankers complained that it was too hard to gank… I haven’t used it since then, so things may have changed since then that I’m not aware of…

I’m not saying that… What I am saying is that they should not have it so lopsided against solo play to force players into corps… That’s what is clearly affecting player retention… I don’t want it to be solo game, but something needs to be done to retain players and rejouvinate the player base… This is just my suggestion to address this problem…

You are playing an MMO with 30,000+ other players. Again, EVE is not a solo game…

Having said that, can you still play EVE solo? Absolutely. Are you going to be limited in what you can do? Yes.

Can you imagine the sheer chaos of 30,000 players trying to forge their own little empires and do their own thing? Nothing would ever get done. Good luck trying to defend your Citadel with your little 3-man alt corp, or worse, solo.

I doubt any of that’ll happen since the primary focus of the game is, and always has been, shame those in High Sec until they move to null sec. Which is very stupid because there’s nothing wrong with wanting to play in High Sec. Null sec has so many features that end any and all pvp once you have a large corp that many places have become safer than high sec. Anti-cloaking structures are one. Cynos that bring in huge fleets, etc… They got rid of local for a while and null suddenly became dangerous again even to the big corps. Can’t have that! I’m sure CSM was all over that getting CCP to reinstate Local. I suppose Null is too dangerous without local and too safe with it… unless you’re solo in Null. I tried that and hated it. Just hated solo in Null Sec. Worst experience in any game. I survived for a month and I never ever want to repeat that experience. Nothing but frustration and boredom.

New people start in High Sec and they get shamed for it. Ever wonder why high Sec is so safe now? It’s empty. Ever listen to Null Sec people talk about High Sec? ā€œDScan Dscan DScan! You have to DScan all the time!ā€ Yeah, I’m sure those 3 people in the system minding their own business are not going to be a danger to me even if I was mining right now. High Sec is really all the game I desire. If I ever want to go into Null sec, I’ll buy 100 Ventures, pay someone to move them to Null, and join one of those really big corps that provide so much protection. I’ll then mine until I’m out of Ventures. Woo… fun!

I don’t know what can be done about High Sec at this point. It’s been nerfed into the ground so badly that there’s no going back. It is what it is now. Mining sucks unless you’re moon mining. PI is interesting, but the User Interface for it looks like something out of an old DOS game. It’s that bad though no one wants to improve it. It looks like someone spent an hour writing the code and making the UI. Then they packaged it together despite it barely working. Ice mining is almost decent, but those structures require so much damn fuel that it pretty much ends your entire profit margin- not that you really get anything out of having structures in High Sec- unless of course you’re moon mining and you’re lucky enough to get a Glistening collection of ore after 2 weeks of waiting. Nothing else is really worth the effort.

Fortunately for me, I like flying around and I PLEX for all of my ISK or I would have quit after seeing what High Sec has become. There are ways to solo and make money in this game, but the easiest is just to PLEX. I have a huge collection of ships that keep me entertained. I have Exhumers, a T2 Logistics Cruiser, T3 Strategic Cruiser, Avalanche, Deluge, Bowhead, Vindicator, a Sin, and many more. I can even pilot an Ansher, but I don’t have one yet. I have no need for one that would justify the cost.

So far, I’ve seen people make a lot doing Abyss in small groups, but I’m sure there will be a petition by CSM to have it nerfed since it can be done in High Sec.

I solo because I have no desire to be treated like a blue collar worker in a large corporation in Null Sec. That’s why I play like I do in High. Freedom is what I enjoy. I explore and do whatever I feel like doing at the time.
