Doctor Who event

Yeah this will absolutely detract from the event if this is the case, fingers crossed though.

Most of my friends already quit. I’ll be here till the servers shut down, but I’ve got a feeling that’s coming sooner than I would like, and I’ve got a feeling I’ll only vaguely recognize what finally gets turned off.

It goes against all the lore of Eve, its a joke, I think I quit at the right time.

I had to look it up on Google images.

Do they really have him fly through space in that ? :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Oh yeah sure,
The “Doctor Who” Forums will love this. This will bring tenths of players to New Eden.

No not “anything”, I want high quality “Stuff and lore” That brings players not “Doctor Who”. I want people to join Eve not because of some TV Show but because there is a grim-dark space Sandbox where they can dream big and do crazy stuff.

I just wanted eve to get it’s magic back - that it has lost in 2016. This is most certainly not what I meant.

You do realise this is an event don’t you. A short term period to increase activity and spark interest internally and/or externally.

I’m not a CCP fanboy at all but at least they are starting to look outside the box to generate some additional interest to keep growing their decades old game. Now all they have to do is put Rattati on coffee and food run duty all day, everyday and the numbers will start increasing again.

This is genuinely dumber than anything I had imagined CCP might do.
Please don’t go down this path.

I am curious, I think its great!
Let me exterminate those Daleks!

Why devote any dev time to a forgettable event when there are major issues with the game that needed attention literally years ago?

It is stuck in that form, but originally the ship could change shape.

I am guessing someone at CCP got hooked on the Dr Who series and thought it would be great to have it everywhere?

I am a bit concerned, because it seems kinda weird to me to have this theme in Eve. Not sure what it will do to the existing backstory and Lore of Eve… And once the gates are open, ‘Who’ else will they add themed events for?

And what happened to working on actual Eve-related stuff? There are some bugs that need clobbering - more urgent in my opinion.

I will wait until the event arrives to see how it is done, and am hoping they will surprise us somehow by doing it well… although I am perplexed and have no clue what to expect at this point.

(Will we find out the Trigs are actually Daleks… horror! Joking)

DX9 phase out on 11 Jan and Daleks coming 2 days later on 13 Jan when bugs might still be plentiful… Oh yes, this won’t go badly…

Not that great of a timing…I mean right now Doctor Who has the worst doctor in the history of the infinite multiverse.

The Playerbase will not log in to fight a “DALEK” in their Phonecells. They log in to wage war in space, build capital ships and after they build them to blow them up in battle and do crazy funny stuff. They log in, to Film themselves pulling “local-aggro” in Tama, blowing up and uploading it to Youtube.

Looking outside the box was the Triglavian stuff or blackout or whatever but jumping on some Tv-Show bandwagon is not “Looking outside” the box.

What even is this? This looks like a model from a PS1 game.

The lore aspect is pretty much permanently shot if they go through with this, but imo nobody at CCP cares about the lore or has a decent handle on it at all anymore so whatever.

Plus if this becomes the epic train wreck it looks like, it’ll be the best and funniest content we’ll get out of Eve all year, so :sun_with_face:

And I repeat, you do know this is an event.

Don’t login for the event period if you’re that disappointed. But even if there is a chance this attracts fresh blood to fuel future wars then I’m up for it.

Also, the Doctor flies round in the Tardis not the Darleks.

Right, the thing is, the EVE setting, was until now, a setting in which there were no intelligent aliens. It was very much a grimdark setting where “the only space monsters are other humans”.
Dr Who and Daleks are unequivocally aliens. They’re not humans. They introduce into the EVE setting, the knowledge that humans are not the only intelligent life in the universe. This is a big thing.
It also means, that all the existing empires knowledge of humanitys origins is now incontrovertibly wrong. The foundations of the amarr religion, the basis of gallente philosophy, the Minmatar’s spirits and mythology - all now objectively wrong, because of the insertion of this Dr who stuff.
It’s a massive hammer blow to the integrity of the EVE setting, and changes everything.

quite.

This is just…cringe

Please do something with the rich, deep Eve storyline rather than pointless cross-overs no one asked for.
