Doctor Who event

Which is funny since i remember them being killed off at one stage.

Sure sounds like it.

I’m sure if CCP need more help, there are plenty of other franchises who’ve retconned to the max.

P.S. Time Wars, what the heck?

Yea they retconned it. Although the episode was good, I also disagree heavily with what it did.

CCP has been smoking that good stuff. I think they are all high over there

If the Dayleks come during the day, does that mean Nightleks come during the night?

I’ve came to play Eve Online for this event, but looking at the required skills and ships I feel like 18 days is gonna be really short to participate and be able to get the rewards.
I don’t really understand why the game’s community look so pissed about it. At worst, it will bring new players for a short time that might leave afterwards, and at best, there will be more frequent players after the event ends.

create another account, and make a referral link, then sign up your new account with that referral link, and you’ll get 1mil SP points which will help in getting a skilled ship quickly for the event.

correction, make a referral link first, THEN create your new account using the referral link…

I’ve looked at the referral system but from what I’ve read, the friend would need to buy omega or plex in order to get rewards, so I don’t see the point beside risking to get banned.

you won’t get banned and you won’t have to buy omega or plex to get the 1 mil SP… regardless if you buy omega/plex you get that 1 mil SP

and the rewards are for the “recruiter” not the “recruitee”

you can create as many alpha’s as you want… I think one of my corpmates has 40 some alpha alts all on separate accounts.

you can use your own referral link as many times as you want too

Unless you’re planning to use the original account (that does the referring) as well, it might be a better idea to do the first referral through the referral thread on these forums, where people offer a significant cut of the rewards for using their referral link (e.g. “use my link and subscribe, and I’ll give you 200 PLEX”). As far as I know, scamming is not allowed during that sort of deal.

Brilliant! I’ve been looking at Daleks since before my married daughters were born. Now I’ll never see them the same again! Brilliant!

Level 3 is a sweet spot in quick training.
level 3 frigate > level 3 destroyer > level 3 Cruiser. Then whatever gun/missile/drone thing you’ve chosen to as many 3’s as you can get.
Perhaps get just enough scanning stuff for the archeology for the relic sites first. I’m sure there will be no NPC combat in those. Then, after your combat skills let you fly a cruiser, you can switch to combat.

Before alpha accounts there were 14 day trial accounts. People actually learned to make them useful for specific, short term work.

In principle, I see it the same way like you. In the best case it makes some fun and brings new players and in the worst case everything remains more or less the same.

From a marketing perspective, the Dr. Who brand will certainly appeal to (and hopefully retain) more (new) people and generate more attention outside of EVE than something based on actual lore.

However, I can also understand the opposite side, which is completely averse to the event. Eve has so many issues, but also internal approaches for events / storytelling, that the Dr. Who event is considered a waste of capacity.

Wouldn’t an official feedback topic be a good idea for such a large event? This topic has become a bit bulky since the first announcement and I don’t think that proper feedback reaches the right eyes if it’s provided here. @CCP_Swift

The relic sites in Non-Whovian-space are Tier 1 sites. At least that is better than with the last event where CCP annoyed the living hell out of people with the Tier 3 datas. Good stuff. But the spam is ridiculous. I check 2 systems only and found 4 already. 7 systems now and 12 of these relic sites. Please tone the spam down a bit.

no its rantanplan and lucky luke

I suspect they are desperate to show that people engaged with the event so have cranked up the number of spawns to make it easy for people to find.

Therefore the data will show the event to be a success.

I see CCP and BBC are determined to send unwitting Whovians flying off our skill cliff, if there are any left, of course.

The word QUESTS was used!!! I’m triggered!!!

CCP apparently introduced a mechanic against cherrypicking the relic sites. They seem to despawn very quickly, even if you have not all cans are hacked. I hacked a container and a second later the signature disappeared. Special rules again.

However, I have to admit that their design doesn’t look too bad. More effort went into them than into many other events’ hacking sites. But what’s really annoying me already is the Claim Reward button. Why can’t these rewards be claimed automatically without the tedious button clicking. I know that Rattati loves button click tedium, but is this really necessary in an event that you portray as enjoyable pastime?

Did you know that internally they refer to deadspace pockets as dungeons? :face_with_hand_over_mouth: :smirk: :smiling_imp:
