Does MCT pause when Omega lapses?

I’m having a hard time finding a direct answer to this question. Does MCT pause when Omega lapses?

The official MCT docs say:

Activating the service will allow 1 additional character to be trained simultaneously.

They don’t mention needing Omega status to use MCT. I don’t know why anyone would use MCT on an Alpha account, but it appears they support that use case.

This would suggest MCT ticks down no matter the Omega status.

The EVE Uni Accounts page says:

Should their training queues run out or be paused, MCT will continue to tick down, irrespective of whether your characters are actively training or not; there is no way to “pause” MCT once it’s been activated.

I’m inclined to believe what their wiki says, but this was in the context of the skill queue stopping and not Omega running out.

If CCP could answer this directly, or if someone has proof of how it works, I would be grateful. I’m writing a tool to help me manage skill farms, and this detail changes how I design part of the system.

As MCT simply allows a second character on the account to train I have no reason to believe this cannot be done at Alpha training speed.

Nothing says ‘Omega required’ on MCT.

Of course it would be a massive waste to train at half (Alpha) speed for the duration of the MCT so I wouldn’t recommend anyone to do so, nor have I tried being so wasteful that I can confidently say this is how this works, but I think it is possible.

Talking about MCT quirks, I once learned that when MCT lapses the skill queue of the lowest SP character stops first, rather than the character with the shortest skill queue. This was a nasty and wasteful surprise when I came back a few weeks later and noticed that my MCT had been used for an empty queue most of that time.
