My experience is the opposite. Nobody knows what’s going on and I get silence when I ask questions in different help channels. I had zero competition in a drifter infested system. Gallente space seem to have the only fleet.
Apparently the Minmatar know what’s going on. Minmatar capsuleers have made incredible advances in their standings in the Race For The Hives event. It looks like they’re in solid position to be one of the top 5 factions to control access to the new Drifter Wormhole technology:
The current race results:
More groups and corps seem to be getting involved in trying to grab one of the top 5 positions for their faction. If you’ve been looking to try this event out, head over to one of the event locations and ask in local for forming fleets. Or join the Drifter Lurkers chat channel in-game for fleets, guides and more!
If you are running for Minmatar, we have fleets that are open to all Minmatar pilots every evening from 19:00 - 23:00. Contact me ingame. We do 400+ points/hour or something like that so in 1-2 evenings you can get your reward track up
We do only accept people supporting the Minmatar Republic in our fleets.
Any short details about these fleets? Alpha clones welcomed? Particular ships/fits or can i bring my draek?
As mentioned in the original posts and links from CCP, these sites are limited to T1 frigs/des/cruisers.
For a good overview and fit suggestions, check Loru’s guide (10 minutes, good and quick):
People should have one ship for each site.
Salvaging → any T1 frigate with a MWD+ T1 Salvager + Salvage Tackle rig + a little buffer and repper can participate. Condor, Slasher, Rifter, Incursus are excellent salvaging ships.
Research Outpost → any armor tanked T1 cruiser or navy destroyer can participate with DPS (usually we always have enough logi)
Lancer → we are running it with ospreys, but since the incoming DPS is really low, T1 cruisers or navy destroyers of any kind are welcome and cap boosting Ospreys and Augorors as well.)
We usually have some Thrasher Fleets to hand out for DPS and some Logi cruisers as well for the bigger sites.
For the Drifter Boss we take High DPS Armor Battlecruiser. Oracle, Talos, Hurricane, Brutix… all possible. Those ships should all have >50% omni resists, no glass cannons.
If people want to hack in the boss site, they need a T2 Data Analyzer and need to be on comms.
If you want a good fitting suggestion, do not watch Loru’s Vid.
A Condor or Slasher can do the job way more reliable than this Algos. It’s faster, can kite the NPCs better, has the same amount of salvagers. There is no reason to use a Destroyer in this site.
The video is linked mostly for the quick overview on how to find, access and what’s involved in running each of the sites.
Between the Drifter Lurkers chat channel, your suggestions above, and the video, I’m sure people can figure out some fit that will work for them.
However the best actual advice anyone new to the process could follow would be to find an active group like your Minmatar fleets or the Vyraj alliance (mentioned in the Reddit link above 6 posts above) and get help and advice from the people actually running them.
Is it safe to say if you fly solo, the odds are next to nil in doing this event (even with randos)?
It’s definitely meant for fleets, and there are various ways for even a typically solo player to find fleets to join. (Listed in posts higher in the thread)
I haven’t had the time to check out the sites solo, I’ve only done 2 sites with a fleet (just to see what they looked like). I’m told the Relic/hacking and the Salvaging tasks can be done solo. I think there were some pointers up around post #70 or so in this thread on those.
You might want to check some of the videos, links or chat channels listed above and see if that looks like content you could handle solo. While harder (or more grindy, at least), it should still be possible.
Much appreciated, Kezrai!
1900-2300 EVE time? Because I don’t see you when I open the fleet finder. Last couple of days I’ve only seen a fleet in Obanen and it has a max capacity of 6. I was inviting ppl and then it turns out the FC limited it to 6. I check today and it’s a different FC, but still see the 6-man limit. I’m not sure why they are doing that as nobody in their right mind is doing this for isk rewards. Having 70+ people would allow them to complete sites in under a minute.
I might try to start my own in Fildar later tonight.
Oh, we were in Fildar tonight from 19:00 - 23:00 Two neutral minmatar characters joined us.
I think yesterday we took a break, because we allready destroyed three Drifter Tektons in the afternoon and needed it honestly.
The fleets are not listed as public, that’s why you should contact me ingame so I set you blue and you see the fleet.
Also you need to send a screenshot as proof that you are running for the Minmatar Republic, because you are a Caldari citizen. Minmatar citizens ofc can always be trusted and don’t need this proof unless they have a questionable employment history with the Angel Cartel or a weird Bio that looks like the ancient enemy Az’dayah converted them to Trigometrics.
Something is off with the Fleet Finder because you weren’t showing up. Even private fleets still show up. For Field Rescue salvage it was the one in Obanen and one for some Amarr system advertised as ‘for Amarr faction’. I was running a fleet a few days ago and it wasn’t showing up for most people. I tried to switch it to needing an application (to keep moochers out) when it stopped showing entirely. No setting changes made it visible again and we ended up having to disband and remake the fleet from scratch. So maybe it’s the application part that’s buggy and makes some not show. Because I do see some showing that require an application.
You cannot see it unless you have light blue standings with me or my corporation.
You cannot see private fleets.
So what are the fleets in the finder that say “private”, instead of having a member count?
It means that the member count is hidden and private information.
Since this isn’t mentioned anywhere, the high-sec Drifter Observatory Infiltration relic site, that’s worth basically nothing before taxes, will bubble and pod you if you misclick or hit a lag spike or misjudge how far the animated bubble will expand or otherwise mess up: Patient Eradicator | Kills | Ship | zKillboard
Just doing literally anything else in the game has a better risk to reward ratio.
Yeah, those aren’t worth the effort and you don’t see people doing them. They are also the only ones that could be done solo. But you need to have high enough hacking skills were you’re not likely to ever fail or a ship that can tank the incoming damage.
Avoiding the mines/traps seemed easy enough. A lag spike or disconnect could cost you a ship in any site type though. And are you sure the relic sites pod kill? I thought only actual Drifters pod kill. Not the sleeper drones.
Yes, I’m sure. The sentries in the relic site are called “Patient Eradicator” and you can look at the killboard I linked. Just thought I’d mention it, normally there are warning labels on anything involving risk, e.g. filaments, low-sec gates, but these just unceremoniously bubble and pod you in high-sec. It’s even less worth it if I have to leave my +5 clone for this.
