Yes it is annoying. Thankfully there is an easy enough way to counter this behaviour. I have adjusted the fleet composition to 4 augorors and a damage ship. I personally like the Kikimora as it has the damage rampup and is able to apply its damage to the structure sooner, as it is faster.
Got challenged 2 times. We lost the 1st time because we didnt shoot te structure from the start. The 2nd time we did have the kikimora shoot the structure from the start and we won. After that win, we did not get contested anymore.
