Drifters vs Capsuleer's news as 10?

Do we have any one mapping killmails to see if there is a pattern? A staging point? Anything? Have the wormhole guys seen anything weird?

The fob mechanic was cool. The trig mechanic was cool. The drifter mechanic seems to be spawning instalocking instablapping fleets you jave no way to shut down?

Anything going on in thera at the moment?

Any new stars in the sky some one can do space math on to give us a system to investigate?

Do the jove border systems have inactive stargates we can inspect?

Lets start asking questions instead of complaining.

It doesnt make sense that this mechanic would suddenly be random fleets spawning with no staging.l when all the others have had a way you could shut it down.

Is there an unusual abyssal trace in the systems with a drifter fleet up we can investigate? This seems like it might make sense.

Hmmm… Usally its PvErs saying it’s wrong to force PvP. I think it’s perfect.

With invasion happening all over, now we all have to watch out for both. PvP is still always a threat any place any time, and now we have to look out of NPCs too.

But if they attack smaller corps too? Goons have numbers. On paper whole idea looks great, in reality players don’t want to farm timers on countless structure so CCP outsource this activity to ncps.

OK, so my course is to go through your part of space in an uncloaked corvette shouting “Vol Arm sucks”, and you wouldn’t engage me in PvP - because “if I dont want to pvp I dont have to” ?

Hypocrite.

Or they’re intentionally setting off timers to probe our defenses. From a narrative standpoint Drifters have never actually dealt with Upwell Structures before. Don’t be too quick to assume their behavior will stay exactly the same.

I’ve done some more reading and it looks like these drifter invasions are more than needed for whats really going on. I understand the necessity for it in many ways. What opportunities these invasions present I might hafta see for myself.

Yes they have. All the last year’s in highsec since drifters started they have been encountering upwell structures and engaging them, normally because someone shot them from the structure mind you. But they have engaged structures on their own also a number of times as death balls like you are seeing now.

Hmm, maybe they’re gauging fleet response then? I wonder if Jove observatories have changed or appeared in greater numbers recently. I also wonder if there’s some kind of pattern regarding which Upwell structures they destroy compared to the ones they just probe.

There is one super great thing about this Drifter invasion and that is players wont just spam 10000 Citadels everywhere, they will rather place them strategically.

And having less Citadels makes eve a much better place, more conductive to pvp and makes null much more dangerous again like it should be.

scuttlebutt is this Drifter invasion is to clear out old inactive stations to help reduce load on the servers before they’re converted to 64bit, but this is just what I’ve heard around the water dispenser.

There is a big difference between content coming from players and content coming from npc. Moreover ccp marketed this game as a pvp sandbox. So it’s not me being a hypocrite. But it doesn’t matter turned out the drifters can be safely ignored since they don’t follow up on timers.

Maybe CCP had nothing to do with it and its actually all the AI just becoming Sentient lol…

But If it was CCP 90% probability then nice that they are listening to the player-base about null becoming too safe.

Would love to see a post by CCP stating that they have not programmed the NPC’s to attack null sec structures and that it is of their own doing lol would be epic.

The servers have been 64 bit for ages. Stop spreading bad rumours you invented yourself.

Never heard EVE marketed as a solely PVP game…

I’ve heard it has PVP content, but never it’s a pure PVP game.

Or did I miss something since I started playing back in early 2004?

I have a feeling many PVP players think it’s a PVP only game and fail to see it’s more than just that.

Maybe we should ask all the PVE and indy players to stop saleing their loot and manufactured items on the markets and hold all trade agreements for a month just to prove a point to these PVP only players that believe EVE is only designed to cater to their needs.

I wonder how long it takes these players to realize how much of a stupid statement that is?

Anyone willing to close all trade for a month for solely PVP players?

Or should we just ignore stupid ill thought out responses from these PVP players and focus on the PVP players and corps that understand that with out the PVE and Carebears as some put, there would be no PVP at all?

You missed something since you started playing back in early 2004.

It’s a PvP game.

Or… at least it was.

if that was the case there would never been a complete R&D, harvesting, manufacturing and market in the game since alpha days.

as I recall those features have been there since days one.

one thing that had change was the level of the NPC factional police, which back in the early days were hard on players, even stealing a can had them on you.

these days CONCORD are a joke compared to the old faction Police, they made PVP easier than back then.

only safe places to do PVP was lowsec, and if you were fast maybe 0.6 or 0.5 systems.

EVE has had PVP since day one, but it wasn’t it’s only feature as you wish to believe it was. Sorry, history can’t be changed no matter how hard you wish to.

To have them follow-up on timers properly, some dev has to code something new. Possible, but unlikely.

not a rumour I made, it’s something I was told could be a possible reason by a follow programmer.

think of a defrag/dish clean of useless and unwanted data.

now think of all those nulsec structures that haven’t been used in ages by their corps/alliances, wasting CPU cycles and data. instead of just wiping them off the face of the game, CCP is possible giving players a chance to rescue what they can from these structures or to make them active to keep them.
basically a big clean-up, but done in a enjoyable game play style.

something to toy with!

I hope CCP are testing this “Drifter invasion” as preparation to disable perfect intel from local - fleets are popping up and wrecking havoc all around the place.
