Dual Monitor question

Is there a way to get my Alt client to always start on my second Monitor and my main toon to start on my primary monitor?

Yes

EVE client cannot do it on it’s own. You’ll have to use a 3rd Party software to achieve it.

Create 2 Different Profiles for the Accounts, and then you can setup everything as you need it …

As Eryca said, use two different profiles:

You can save different graphics settings for each profile, including the monitor you want that client to open on.

FFS, people.

You tick windowed mode in EVE settings then drag each character onto the monitor you want it on.

It’s not rocket surgery.

You could do so, but why make it harder for yourself than necessary?

With separate profiles you only need to drag once. With your suggestion you would need to drag each client to their monitor each time you open the game.

+1 separate profiles is the ticket.

Its when you have 3 screens with 3 combat toons that the fun/challenge begins! :upside_down_face:

Hmm thought I couldn’t set this up with 1 graphics card and the default launcher… BUT
Under the display adapter settings it shows graphics card 1 and graphics card 2
(I’m guessing it’s each monitor you have setup in your windows system display settings… I need to replace a monitor… alt tabbing on one of them is getting old)
FYI- It doesn’t list monitors ie “adapters” that duplicate the desktop of other monitors.

Either way, setting those should keep the client on the monitor they were launched on.

So from the beginning …
From the Eve launcher -
Click the settings icon in the upper right-
Click “Launch Groups”-
Type in a name and hit create (you will get a box like in the pic below)

Add your accounts- set if you want to auto launch or not any specific toon at start - and set a profile

  • Likely best not to use the same profile name on multiple accounts… You can make various ones such as to auto launch a specific toon or to just be at the toon menu.
(if you get it working, I’m sure you’ll figure this out in a manner you want without further explanation)

Once you have that done…
Use the LAUNCH at the bottom of the Eve launcher

Get each instance of the game on the monitor you want… set your “Display Mode”
(press esc in the launched client)

The “Display Adapter” should have an option for each monitor
(yes my card is a few years old, and I’ll likely replace it sooner than later, but it still runs like a beast… just need to replace a fan every so often)

You may need to close and relaunch a couple of times… but this should set you up without the need of any other software.

I should also add… this may reset your in game gui settings… likely there is a file you can copy and paste the settings from but I don’t have that info atm. I think there is a way to export them in game as well… been far too long since I looked under the hood of what files Eve uses locally.
