I never actually used EVE Anywhere and I had forgot it existed
It is normal to be closed . Players ofc was loving to use it , when you have 10+ accounts Omega / min 3+ players have where live in Sov Space …ofc players will win every battle nonstop online …and can flood the server …then lag Eve Online its Not browser game !
I hope to see New Launcher followed by new Content !
p.s. Npc’s to become more and more harder if you bring more ships on grid / Small Corps and Alliance to have chance to claim Sov /give more anomalies in Faction and Low Space / maybe Launcher whill able to show even Ships info (numbers/fit or not /where is etc.) in your personal accounts …
Well done !
When has CCP ever not lied to us and misrepresented things due to a lack of understanding of how their systems work.
GeForceNow and similar services use shared public IP pools. It’s the same problem as using popular shared vpn services. If someone commits a bannable offense using that IP block then your account will also get banned. You can submit a ticket and have this reversed but that is a giant pita and not guarantied CCP will trust you or even look at your ticket in a timely manner. I’ve heard of numerous stories of this happening from players.
It was better in every way was the problem right but …wait, I don’t remember crying about this and I’m a selfish veteran cry baby.
???
EVE Anywhere suffered from major connectivity issues… Would never run incursions or take my fancy ships out and DC 5 times.
Everyone does seem to agree the graphics are awesome for things like chromebooks/tablets.
RDP and derivatives of RDP are what desktop virtualization uses…vnc is just garbage
Implying that RDP is not a pile of ■■■■?
desktop virtualization and cloud gaming. wow something so unique that no one like nvidia and amazon haven’t commoditized it yet.
Sure, you could use a launcher, or you could use another cloud gaming service. Eve anywhere was convenient, I knew I wouldn’t face a ban, and it was reliable.
Also great for traveling when you can’t just open up the launcher but still want to go on a fleet or check your indy jobs.
It’s OK if it’s not something that you use regularly. For folks like me, this is yet another example of CCP continuing to invest in the garbage that no one is asking for(launcher, hangar graphics, etc.) while taking away the things that make the game more accessible.
the whole getting banned thing is a false narrative,
It is none of your business what the developer does or doesn’t invest in. nevermind that lessons learned in developing eve anywhere would be reused for any cloud gaming. you are not the most important person in eve online. Not even in the top 10. you kicking and screaming about whatever it is you think they should or shouldn’t be doing is useless.
for anyone even minimally competent configuring and implementing it, correct.
It is of paramount importance to me what CCP uses the money I throw at them for. If they waste it on stupid ■■■■, I will feel obligated to stop throwing it at them.
Am I understanding this right, that this “technology used to power EVE Anywhere” is once again because of the launcher, since you mention it specifically?
Thanks for the warning
no, you read it wrong or didn’t understand.
I’ve used this a few times and thought it was cool… but always use the desktop really, and I suspect most people were doing the same thing.
Focus energy in other places… I look forward to the new content
I probably got it right and you have no idea what you are talking about
Not really. We aren’t allowed to show direct communication, but there are instances where folks have been banned for using these shared services. Like I said before, you can submit a ticket and have it reversed however that takes a couple days best case.
I never said that I was the most important person in eve online. I would be the first to admit that I’m a nobody.
They are removing a piece of functionality that I currently use and subscribe to eve online because of. Without this service I’m less likely to keep my subscriptions going because I won’t be able to reliably and safely connect to eve online from devices that would not be able to run the game normally. So yeah, I’m going to comment in the thread directly related to the topic where they have indicated that they are removing that feature that I currently value as one of the highest reasons as to why I give them money every month.
And no setting up my own service and using ‘rdp’ isn’t a comparable solution.
Exactly.
Thank you.
I switched from Windows to Linux to get rid of my EVE-addiction.
I recently discovered EVE anywhere and it got me addicted again.
This will let me of the hook.
