Eve Bots - are they a bad thing, is CCP complicit in their use?

But this mess is much of their own making. They’ve ignored it now for several years and during this time it has grown into a very profitable income stream for some, and when I say some I’m not talking about an individual running several bots at home but businesses running hundreds at once - think of the hardware and the time management needed for the scale of whats going on, could you run 90 market bots at home at once, placing new buy and sell orders 24/7 ? no… -

And like any business, if it turns a profit and demand outstrips supply (and as all indications are CCP isn’t clawing back the isk from those who buy, they subsequently keep buying more and more, I’ve seen players buy 20 bill a week, week after week off them in their contract histories), the botters will invest more resources, time and money into it, making them even more determined to find any work arounds to anything CCP does eventually bring out in the future as they’ve tasted the money and will want more

Anyway, CCP have done something, they brought in skill injectors, Alpha clones and then better skills for Alpha’s so when they are botting they can do it quicker, better and cheaper! - nice one CCP, pretty sick and tired of this whole mess now

Everyday I log in and pray that after downtime the bots disappear, every day I see them logging in and my frustration is now slowly turning to anger

PS - I actually had an argument with two guys earlier today who were genuinely convinced you are allowed to bot as long as the main programme isn’t hacked’ (their words not mine) and buy isk from various websites ‘as it wouldn’t be advertised and guarantee, would it dude’ again their words

I just went over there for 40 minutes and watched, if you still don’t believe CCP’s lost the plot when it comes to bots park yourself outside Itamo IV - Moon 1 - Perkone Factory and as they come out set them to a standing.

At midnight Eve time I counted 43 toons running courier missions, backwards and forth none stop, queuing up like buses to enter / exit. Every single one of them were less than 6 months old, with many made on the same day and all in CCP corps. As far as I could tell I didn’t see a genuine player enter that station in an industrial

@ CCP - If you need to know where Itamo IV - Moon 1 - Perkone Factory is then give me a shout and I can point you in the right direction

I’m ok with pvp bots. It is know in various games where they add bots to pvp in order to provide easy kills and content by the developers. I don’t think ccp adds randomly piloted ai (fake players) just yet.

For isk whoring - I do not approve.

Just went back this morning 0800 Eve, exactly the same 43 toons running the same missions. Almost certainly been at it all night. They obviously do not fear the ban hammer in anyway as they are blatantly doing it 24/7 and probably have been for the last 6 months.

Get a grip CCP, exactly whats stopping you at this very moment in time banning these 43 and the 90 market bots that I know of and reported 6 weeks ago now, confiscating their assets and following the money trail ! And if they come back, hit them again as they aren’t hard to find. Why have they been allowed to carry on for the last six months !!

The only time CCP will do anything if players start to rage about this - which sadly and a reflection of our times, isn’t happening

Do you rely on CCP to do something?
They need at least 4 days to make a hacked account so to attack 43 bot it is counted in centuries.

Bots have no more of an impact than large groups of players doing the same.

Not true. Player cannot do the same stuff 24/7.

And if you replace 1 bot with group of people then well… You compare impact of 1 bot and impact of group of people!

It makes literally no difference to me except the bots tend not to attack me on sight.

Good for you

Let’s imagine: all server population is you and me (my alts controlled by bots). Would you like to play the game if you know that ANYTHING which is not yours is my? And you will never be able to even catch up leave alone leading? And this happens even if i don’t spend any effort?

Is it the same story for you as current server with thousands people?

Yes, this is hyperbole but is the story with 1 bot replacing group of people.

Dont be naive.

Botting is illegal and against CCP EULA/TOS.

A group of players doing the same without bots, is not.

How can that “literally” make no difference to you?

By the fact I literally dont care?

So you dont care if people bot and break TOS/EULA.

Ok.

No, I dont. I care if me or ny friends do, but I dont give a flying toss about anyone else.

You do realise that breaking TOS/EULA is an IRL violation?

Do you not care about the IRL rule/law violations of anyone else except you and your friends?

Lol Salvos you can.come up with much better bait than that.

As I will never be murdered by a bot there is no relevence between the two.

TOS/EULA violations are IRL issues, not ingame.

TOS/EULA are agreements undersigned and agreed to by the person IRL, not the capsuleer ingame.

Violating them has IRL repercussions, not ingame repercussions, as against the person with the account, not the capsuleer ingame.

Im surprised you still havent internalized this.

By all means, claim you dont care about TOS/EULA violations (which I find extremely reprehensible), but you cant claim they arent IRL.

Youre right. But then I didnt say anything of the sort.

But those would be tried in a Civil rather than State or High Court? The RL crimes you are waving vaguely at?

I never spoke of RL crimes, nor waved vaguely at them.
I said violations of TOS/EULA are a RL issue.

So not crimes then?

Cool, back to not caring.

Some are crimes, both in international and local jurisdictions.

All are RL violations of the TOS/EULA.

Would you not care if say, 90% of EVE PCU was bots?
