EVE Changes I’d Like to See

I’d like to be able to set the orbital plane around a stationary object, like an asteroid, or space debris in a combat site. That seems like something a space captain would be doing.

I’d like to lock the UI windows that can’t currently be locked in place, such as the Solar System Map, AIR Career Program Window, and Skills Window.

I’d like it if the Transaction Description in my wallet would list the actual research or manufacturing job, and blueprint, instead of just a job number. That information is available in the production history, but it’s a PITA to correlate the two based on date & time, and only shows up once the job is completed. This goes for purchases also, such as a BPO, which only shows up as an escrow amount.

Along with that, I’d like to be able to download that information as a simple file, rather than picking up 100 entries at a time with copy/paste. It looks like you can do that with PLEX already.

I’d like to be able to download my entire skill training history, instead of just the latest 50 entries. This is invaluable for skill planning for additional characters.

More Changes I’d Like to See:

On Making Mountains out of Molehills #9, where you have to rescue the Production Assistant and get the opportunity to mine Kernite, it would be nice if Aura recognized two drones in the Venture’s drone bay as weapons, and didn’t insist on telling you to “Fit any weapon”.

You did a really good job on the new mining epic arc, Fractured Legacy, but using the same voice actor for Elias who does the NPE would have increased the immersion factor. Also, WTH was the big secret that we either transmitted to the universe, or destroyed forever? The Epstein files?

Referencing the previous post, wouldn’t it be cool if we could log into our EVE Online website account, scroll down to the character portrait, right-click, and download a full data history of that character? The data could be grouped like a fiscal report, along with skills, interactions, industry, kill reports, mining logs, reprocessing efficiency report, and so on. That shouldn’t be too hard, right? It’s all text files. That would be a LOT easier than ESI programming.

We’ve got implants to improve rock mining, ice mining, ore, and ice reprocessing yield, but nothing to improve scrap metal reprocessing yield. Let’s fix that. We want to get the most out of our pink modules.

I would like multiple hot keys for launching drones. I fly with flights of Light, Medium, and Salvage drones. I would like to be able to assign a hot key to each flight for launching. Recovery only needs one hotkey, though.

Could you PLEASE stop informing me, every time I log on, that I have Unused Skill Points. I know I have unused skill points. If I had enough, or if I knew what to spend them on, I’d spend them. I don’t need to be reminded, like some child being told to eat his peas because they are good for him.

The biggest red flag for any idea are these four words.

I use the Rule of Cool when I DM TTRPGs, and “Cool” almost never fits into the balance of the game.

If you don’t want to write a program to do this yourself, go as an AI to code it for you. There are models specifically trained to write code like this.

CCP has repeatedly and intentionally nerfed scrap metal reprocessing over the years. CCP has spend decades trying to balance resource availability, and part of that was making salvage a very poor resource generator.

Fly a Carrier and you can do this. You can also realize that in subcapital ships, this is only really useful half a dozen hulls. Most subcapital ships don’t carry multiple flights of drones, just one and a few backups.

You already can turn off the notifications. Right click it when it pops up and you get two options, one is to end the pop-up and the other is to end tracking it in the notification log.

Click on the thing you would like to Orbit

You can now set an orbiting plane around asteroids:)

“Cool” is generational. I guess “Fire” would fit in 2026? I disagree completely. In my D&D games, the best adventures start with “Wouldn’t it be cool if…..” and usually end in heroic, but tragic death.

This made me laugh out loud. Again, generational. My first computer used the 6502 processor and had 48 kilobytes of RAM. My first programming language was Fortran and used punch cards. Yeah, I’m not coding anything these days. I just keep laughing at “go ask an AI to code it for you”, like everyone has an AI friend on speed dial.

I don’t think it’s too much to ask the company that hires a full time economist for the ability to download an annual report on our characters. The data is there, it just needs to be formatted.

As with asking for the ability to click on a portrait and download a character history, I’m not looking at this as a long term Eve player, a spreadsheet guru, or a programmer. I’m looking at this as Malcom Reynolds trying to salvage a derelict transport ship, or get that irreplaceable space part, or Captain Kirk cobbling together a cannon to fight the Gorn. To me, that immersion is the magic of EVE. However, I understand your point. Game balance isn’t something I think about.

Activate Defense Mode

Activate Propulsion Mode

Activate Sharpshooter Mode

Three hulls. I don’t think I’m asking for too much.

Besides, you miss the point. I’m not asking to have that wonderful feeling of pressing a button, which I would evidently get from flying carriers. I’m asking to make my existing fleet of Vexors, Algoses, and Tristans more fun to fly.

Furthermore… wouldn’t it be cool if I could say, “Aura, launch Light Drones”, into a microphone? “Aura, target ships from closest to farthest, and from smallest to largest, direct drones and fire at will”. Come on, wouldn’t THAT be cool?

Thank you for this!

Thank you, I will try this. As soon as I find out what W does.

I’ll give you a hint, it rhymes with worbit. More specifically it’s the hotkey to orbit at the default range that you set manually. Hold it down, click whatever you want to Orbit.

Other useful ones are A for align to whatever you click, Q for approach, D for Jump/Dock, and S to warp.

Maybe I’m missing something, but I tried this, and I can’t set the orbital plane, just the radius (range). I’d like to be able to set where the circle is in space, so I don’t crash into other asteroids or combat site structures, slowing me down, and possibly blocking my avenue of escape in case I’m getting my ass kicked, or a ganker lands on grid.

Is that possible?

Oh I misunderstood. No you cannot set the plane. I doubt it would do you much good if you could either, the way the game handles collision doesnt really make this a problem unless you MWD into an asteroid on purpose

I just had another great idea! Wouldn’t it be cool if we could open a chat window with Aura and ask her game related questions? Something a Captain might want to ask their ship’s AI. I’d like to ask:

Aura, how much total damage did we inflict on the War Installation? (just after blowing it up)

Aura, how long did it take to destroy the War Installation? (first damage to destruction)

Aura, how long did it take for the mission from acceptance to completion?

Aura, would you please remind me when I’m eligible to do The Bloodstained Stars again?

One could either type in a phrase, or have a list of trigger phrases, or both!

Aura: “Hello Captain. How may I be of service?”

Me: “Aura, How many Capsuleers are currently docked in Basgerin?”

Aura: “Six Capsuleers are currently docked in Basgerin. Do you have further questions?”

Me: “Yes, Aura. Have there been any ship or pod kills in the last hour, in Basgerin?”

Aura: “No, Captain. Will there be anything else?”

Me: “No, Aura. Thank you.”

Me: “Aura, how much ISK have I earned in Project Discovery so far?”

Me: “Aura, how many slides have I evaluated in Project Discovery?” (If that’s a current data point)

Me: “Aura, how much ISK did I spend on Material Efficiency Research for the Vexor blueprint?”

You could also ask her to make changes to the game settings:

Me: “Aura, would you optimize graphical settings for Quality?”

Aura: “Yes Captain. You have thirty seconds to approve the changes or I will revert to the previous setting.”

Me: “Aura, I approve.”

OR

Me: “Aura, Would you play some music please?”

Aura: “Certainly, Captain. I’ve got some Classic EVE music for your listening enjoyment.”

CCP might be able to integrate it with the new AI Newbie question-answering Aura.
