EVE Console

This is an open source, locally running, desktop application that builds and runs natively on Windows and Linux. It is essentially an all-in-one application, but at its roots it is an industry focused tool that I happened to add other functionality to over time.

I am a capital builder in a null sec alliance, and operate at a decent scale, which involves quite a bit of material acquisition, managing buffers of those materials and intermediate components, managing priorities of jobs running across dozens of indy alts, and the logistics of moving everything between the needed markets and facilities I use. All of this is to help prevent shortfalls, and to keep a steady flow of hulls being output, while prioritizing pending orders that customers are waiting on. My prior systems were less than ideal, and I ended up wasting a lot of time managing it all.

I am a software engineer by trade, and the above was the catalyst for me starting this application, which was initially just something written for my personal needs. Today I am spending a lot less effort on the day to day tasks in game, which has made it more sustainable for me. After I was getting value out of it I decided to spend the extra effort to package it up in a format that could be used by others, which is the tool we have today. The tool is still very new, and a little rough around the edges in some areas, but very much usable.

Features

  • Item Valuation
    • Captures current market value for every item in the game available on the market. In addition we use public contract history (collected over time) to track contract values for items, which is especially important for values of items you will not find on the market (i.e. faction BPCs). In addition it calculates and stores current and historical build costs for every item in the game that is produced, leveraging market and contract values for material acquisition costs.
  • Item Production Calculator
    • In addition to calculating an isk value to produce an item, the system allows the definition of multiple indy parks to operate out of, the determination of materials needed for a job, the jobs to be run, and the facilities to run them in.
  • Worklist
    • Produces a task list of materials to purchase outright or through buy orders, hauling tasks to get materials, components, or final products to the correct location, and jobs that need to be run across all of your defined indy alts. The worklist, as mentioned, was one of the driving factors for the implementation of the tool. While fully functional today, it is an area that is under constant revision and improvement, as there is still progress that can be made here.
  • Storefront and order tracking
    • Configure and manage a store with both Web and Eve Mail front ends depending on how you configure the store. Automatically handles pricing of all items based on build costs, and can be configured for manual static pricing as well. Can operate as a build to order system, or manage and display current stock levels of items that are for sale. For orders placed for items not currently in stock, prioritizes tasks for those items through the worklist tool.
  • Sale tracking and Opportunity tools
    • Tracks historical sales for profitability and examines and compares markets for both trade, and manufacturing opportunities, leveraging margins, volumes, etc.
  • Some other highlights
    • PI Management Tool and Worklist Tasks
    • Live universe map fed with data from intel channels and zKill
    • Alerts for notifications of various events (i.e., intel notifications, new order received, fell asleep after clicking undock with 100B in cargo, etc.)
    • Integrated TTS for alert notification, as well as optional agent integration
    • Fitting Tool

As of this version, the application supports all eight languages supported by the eve client. Be aware though that all translations beyond English I leveraged an agent to perform the translations, as I do not speak them, so they are likely a little rough right now. Hoping though that it is a good starting point where we can improve off of.

The YouTube channel linked below has some videos to at least get you started with installing and setting up the basics of the application, and will be adding more videos for specific tools, like the worklist, coming up. For general questions or issues with the application, Discord is probably your best option, but you could also post here as well. To download the application, you can either go to the main website, or to the Github page, and pull up the latest release.

AI Usage

Almost all projects I am involved in lately, either for work or personal, involve AI in one way or another, and this project is no exception. On this project I have leverage AI to assist with coding, website and documentation maintenance, QA, logos, and translations. On the translations it was 100% done by AI, without any human verification post translation. Unfortunately I barely feel qualified to author / edit the English text in this application, which is the only one I actually know. Unfortunately this means the quality of the translations beyond English my reflect this.

In addition the application does have an optional agent that can be configured. Initially I did it as I wanted to use the project as a test bed to play around with the integration, as it was related to some projects I had at work at the time. The hope though was it could be used to answer data queries quickly where we did not have a built in tool to provide the requested data. While it can do that, in reality it’s uses beyond that are currently rather limited. So don’t expect it to be able to properly tell you how to improve the fit on your ship, or drum on ideas to make you more ISK. In the future I may spend more time in this area, but right now it is not a primary area of focus.
