FYI todays update has fixed the upscaling for me and all seems okay again.
Ditto. I’m now back to 60+ FPS on all 3 clients. I’ll continue to watch temperatures (my only main concern at this point), but it’s remaining below 90°C so far.
I’m happy for you who are back to normal, me and my old iMac are still struggling with the crazy epilepsy issues
There’s a graphical anomaly of the tactical camera that now appears regardless of whether you’re in orbit or tactical view (and the tactical view camera doesn’t work). So close, but not quite…
I’m sad to report that today’s update did not resolve the strange graphical effects with red/pink/green/blue polygons around gates and stations with billboards. You are probably aware @CCP_Caffeine but I’m just reiterating.
guys with regards to the upscaling
how does it work, like for best performance with / best graphics
how to do the settings? i am not sure how to optimize it?
If you want higher FPS, choose Performance. If you want better graphics, choose Quality. Balanced is somewhere in the middle.
thanks for this, and the settings in the main so if i play on medium - the main settings - and then select performance or balanced on up scale will that be leading to better perf?
Yes. You’ll probably want to play around with the graphics settings in combination with performance. I like to run low anti-aliasing, high shader/level of detail, low shadow and everything else low or disabled.
Arthur Aihaken If I ctrl+d to toggle tactical view off, the weird box and the ghost ship disappear. Ctrl+d to toggle back on and they reappear. @CCP_Caffeine
I’ll try that tomorrow to see if I can replicate on my end.
Addendum: Tried this and it temporarily fixes the ‘glitch’. The issues with the tactical map being non-functional are still present, though (clicking on the tactical map only brings it up at one quarter the size. Thanks @Deep_Natsukashii!
@CCP_Caffeine Can we please have the option to disable Volumetric Effects Quality beyond auto-disabling it in “potato mode” through the Low Shader setting? I feel this would drastically improve performance on all MacOS systems - especially the older ones. Thanks.
I’m not seeing these on my M4, so it must be a chipset thing. Have you tried playing around with turning off some of the other graphics settings in EVE? This is what I’m running.

Here’s a vid of the discothèque
Distance is 2,665m from undock on a station with billboards sitting to the right of the undock port.
It’s like rotoscoping lightsabers…
I also have a Mac Studio M1 Max, and I am not seeing these graphical issues. For comparison, the differences:
- I have 32 gpu cores vs. your 24
My EVE graphics settings are the same except for:
- Resolution: 3840x2160
- UI scaling: 150%
My game resolution is the same as my display’s native resolution. My display is also not a Studio Display.
I don’t think it’s an issue with the type of display. It could be related the the resolution and/or UI scaling (3200x1800 and 110% for me). I would try messing with the UI scaling to see if that changes anything.
Switching UI scaling to 150% for me had no effect
