Thanks for putting this together. I get a pretty weird behavior, launcher starts but upon clicking ‘play’ the game itself just hard exits, UI elements spawn briefly and then disappear nothing past that happens, nothing notable in the logs. Arch with proprietary nvidia drivers, fully updated.
Anyone seen similar?
Did you have the 32bit part of the nvidia driver installed? Depended on the version which you use are this
lib32-nvidia-utils,
lib32-nvidia-390xx-utils or
lib32-nvidia-340xx-utils
Without this wine are not functional and it looks for me, that wine dies silently because it’s not found these drivers. It should be in the logfiles if wine try to access nouveau or something else. If you install wine from multilib it has no dependencies to the proprietary drivers, so you must install it for yourself. Have a look at the logfiles from the launcher.
After finding a bug which not update the evelauncher locale files after an update from the evelauncher himself i have updated my installer packages so that she handle now this situation.

dont work anymore, only login with the developer version from the linux launcher works atm.
After you have updated the launcher to the developer version (which i not recommend, but its atm the only solution when you must use the linux eve launcher) he will hang after trying to restart himself. The only workaround so far is to kill the evelauncher process and restart the EVE Launcher from the Application Menu again, so it can restore the deleted links and files which the updater has cleaned up during the update process. Solved with the last update. Please see the next post and replace downloaded packages if she are earlier than 2018/09/14 created.

Today i have updated my packages again so she can now handle the problem, that after an restart of a updated/changed launcher he hangs again while the updater cleaned up the launcher directory. After an update he should now restart and after a new start from the Application Menu will evelauncher.sh restore the locale files and the steam_appid.txt in the launcher directory.

By handling the latest trouble with login failures and changing of launcher versions i have seen some glitches with the localization of the evelauncher. If you dont use evelauncher with locales like me then is this latest patch not necessary for you. The evelauncher will now handle locales correct when you change it in the Settings Menu.

Installer package updated to rev 2. Added wine version check so that used wine version are in sync with selected wine version from the launcher.
Based on a AUR package from Aleksandr i have build a new optimized package for Arch based distributions. Compared to the Beta launcher package use this package the libraries from the distribution so that the size of downloaded and installed files are much smaller. In case i have missed some dependencies please write it in this thread.

Update: Replaced some double copied libs with symlinks to her original libs. Changed startup script, so that the binary launcher was started from users eve directory and custom logs are stored there (dxvk-logs).

First my sincere appreciation to Snorlax and Turen for their efforts. I’m running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. Previously was able to run EVO no problems. Then about 2weeks ago EVO launcher fails to load the game. Downloaded the latest evelauncher-1385477 package, ran Turen’s install script with no problems. I’m able to run the Launcher but after entering account credentials EVO does not load. I’ve updated Wine to latest version. Any suggestions for troubleshooting appreciated.
Can you login in your account? Shows the launcher, that he are ready to start EVE (Blue line at bottom and Ready message)? Look in your launcherlog which is accessable from Menu->Show in File Browser->Launcher logs in the latest logfile after errors by starting wine.

No blue at the bottom of the Launcher.

First of all: don’t run evelauncher.sh as sudo or su. Never. If you have used
evesetup-1385477-x-x86_64.run
then you need sudo or su only for installing or deinstalling from the evesetup package, never for evelauncher.sh himself. If you have used the evesetup package mentioned before, deinstall it with
sudo ./evesetup-1385477-x-x86_64.run (the -x- stands for used revision -2- or -3-)
then remove in your $HOME following directories
- $HOME/.cache/CCP
- $HOME/.config/CCP
- $HOME/.local/lib/EVE

- $HOME/<path_to>/evelauncher
In case you have used sudo or su to start evelauncher.sh you must use sudo or su for removing this directories. Then you should have your $HOME cleaned up from the mess by using different concepts to launching EVE. Decide then, which way you will use, my solution described on my website with evesetup or the solution from UniWiki which is different, you can both not mix. In both cases is it the best, you begin a complete new installation with one of them.
On Ubuntu 16.04 you can only use a package with all dependencies for the launcher which are this evesetup-1385477-2-x86_64.run in case, you will used it.
If you want to setup EVE in the UniWiki way you need only evelauncher-1385477.tar.gz and make the steps described there.

Turen, made progress after a complete uninstall of all EVE Launcher binaries etc. per your directions. I then re-installed using the evesetup-1385477-2-x86_64.run file. I was able to start the Launcher, login, fully load the blue bar for the client, but Wine appears to hang at the step loading application “authenticating” . Below is the Wine error.
Following the link from the Wine error log suggestion to use Wine Database configuration suggestions.
Install of core fonts and other run time distros per the Wine EVO gold list worked correctly. However the client application still hangs on load.
