I’m pretty new to EVE, and honestly the first weeks were rough. There’s so much to learn at once — fitting, markets, where not to die, what corps do, which websites everyone expects you to have open — that I kept feeling lost even when I was “doing fine.” I don’t have a second monitor, so alt-tabbing to Dotlan, zKill, market tools, and guides broke my flow and made the game feel even bigger than it already is.
So I built EVE NewBro: a free Windows desktop companion that sits on top of the game (windowed or borderless EVE works best). It’s not an in-game addon and not affiliated with CCP. It doesn’t read the game client or send clicks into EVE — it’s the same kind of external, read-only tooling people have used for years (public APIs like ESI, zKillboard, market data, etc.).
Why I made it: one place to actually use while you play, instead of juggling five browser tabs.
What it does:
-
Live map — kills, sov, FW, incursions, routes, recent zKill activity
-
Market — search, full item browse, appraise fits/lists, watchlist price alerts, contract scan
-
Intel — look up pilots, corps, alliances; paste Local for a quick threat pass
-
Fits — starter/community fits with one-click EFT copy
-
Industry helpers, damage cheat sheet, notes, news feed, new-player tips
-
Optional login (SSO) — multi-character overview, assets across alts, mail, corp watch
-
Two layouts: small always-on-top overlay, or Expand for a bigger intel window (no second screen required)

First run: Windows may show SmartScreen because the build isn’t signed — More info → Run anyway.

I’m still learning the game myself; this is my attempt to make New Eden a little less overwhelming for anyone in the same boat. If you try it, I’d love bug reports and ideas. o7
