EVE’s server could melt down overnight and CCP would not owe us anything (aside from reimbursements of game time).

In that scenario I think it’s highly questionable if we’d ever see any kind of reimbursement. Subscribers don’t have the same kind of security as investors/shareholders, secured loans, pensions, employee pay/severance, tax liabilities (etc) - and I’m probably missing a few.

It would be more cost effective to just wind the studio down, stop providing any updates and just employ a skeleton crew to keep the servers online for 1-2 years to exhaust any subscriber liability (which would only be in the form of direct Omega purchases).

Pretty sure PLEX wouldn’t have any cash redemption value (there’s probably some small print in the EULA that covers that).
