EVE Online dev team is understaffed

I think you underestimate how many new and old players a new server, especially with new ruleset like it is currently testing in china, will bring in or back into the game.

There are MANY folks who quit EvE over getting blown up in highsec for seemingly no reason.
There are even more who dont even give it a shot because people are 20 years ahead in progress.

Tranqulities sandbox has become stale and boring, everything is set in stone and there is nothing really to claim for people.
And no, highsec ganking does not make the game spectacular or appealing, its just incredibly frustrating for newer players, especially when their progress gets erased on top of looking at the endless mountain to climb in order to ever catch up.

An entire new galaxy however for everyone to claim, everyone starting out from fresh, somewhat evenly footed, new alliances, new politics, etc. this is what is needed.

Well we will see soon, if its a massive hit for china and they get tons of new players I’m sure we will see our own new server within a year and a bit.

With respect, I don’t think so. PvP isn’t the only thing that attracts players to EVE. It’s a whole universe with lots and varied activities within which PvP holds only one place and isn’t more important than the others.

And how many people won’t start over to waste again 18 years just to end up in exactly same spot? One thing that definitely will kill EVE is splitting the community.

Thats not what I mean ganking is a progression back step if no ganks happen then people keep progressing faster and faster till they reach the end.

Eventually everyone is farming in high sec with abyssal officer fit paladins with no way to upgrade further.

The same has been said with WoW, Lotro, Runescape and so on aswell.

And look, those alternate server options for all those other MMos all went sucessfull and boomed their playerbases.

Ganking keeps any hisec related activity profitable. Without loss. Everything will end up over farmed and worthless. In result any progress will take 100x longer or simply will make “safe space” not viable making EVE even more dangerous for anything that isn’t high sec bot.

Agreed new players are going to start farming and realize they are making 5mil an hour and say I cant catch up? Actually its the other way around they will be making decent isk but everything will cost a lot more. 40b for a marauder.

Since its safe people will be mining their moons with 20 alt hulks, also since its perfectly safe in high sec the first people to the moons keep them, and once all moons are taken no one can ever get a high sec moon again.

Highly, highly doubt that .

but even if so, why do you care? If Tranquility is so superior and the single only way to play EvE into eternity, you can just stay there and nothing changes for you.

Again, they are not replacing the old server, they are adding a new server option.

The Eve Online game works and the servers are open for it’s Capsuleers.

Outside of this I just wish Jita 4.4 to be finished with that side piece.

EVE is a sandbox. There is no ‘end’ or ‘win’.

Some players are content to mine then do industry then sell then do some PvE then some exploring then some PI… Not every player wants to be the best of the best of the best ( with honors ) Many players are content to roleplay their character into an interesting life in space. Conflicts does not interest them.

End is when you are bored and content runs out, or the progress has no challenge and hence not worth even doing in the first place. It is possible to have an end then an update and the end extended further out.

In that case ‘end’ is also when you rage-quit.

Its the same for single player games, some people call getting to the last boss and beating it the end, some people say no thats not the end you have to get all achievement’s some players go further and do speed run’s the end is personal not a general thing.

Doesn’t sound like a sandbox though.
Bosses and linear story-based games do have an ‘end’ once you’ve completed all challenges. Not so in a sandbox.

Probably, but it’s more the “type” of players this will bring in or back that will catch my attention, or not.
If it’s all the crybabies that left due to not understanding they stepped in a ruthless madmax universe, and then blaming their choices ingame on anything else but themselves, then I will totally opt out in playing with that kind of scum.

Everyone has their reasons for playing a video game, they might seem obscure to you, but that’s your own damn problem to deal with. If people couldn’t learn from their mistakes ingame, then that’s on them, and most definitely NOT the game’s or other players.

I have been playing since 2007, and I can be just as easily killed by a 2 week old char in a frigate if he does what he’s supposed to do correctly.

The 20 year ahead argument is total BS with a game like Eve.

That’s a big “you” problem if the game got stale. I still have so many things I want to try in the game, and like I said, Ive been around since 2007.

So if creativity is your problem, then don’t go blaming your lack of it on others, or the game …

As well it has been a big CCP problem for not following through their ideas in innovating what they have already. Trig invasions were a great start, and that was left unfinished. Now they pretty much gave up on any kind of meaningful and creative innovation for the old server and now focusing on the new one.

High sec ganking comes in so many forms, and some require a decent amount of creativity to pull off.
Your typical catalyst blob being the lowest form of creative ganking I can think of … looking at you @Aiko_Danuja ^^

As for new player progress, it is all about mindset, if you tell them to fall in love with their pixels right from the start INSTEAD of showing them that losing pixels is part of a longer term and more fulfilling process, then yes, they will not stick to the game.

Im not denying a fresh start could be interesting for a while, but then, mark my words that because of the 100% safety measures, the game will feel stale a hell of a lot quicker …

but again:

So why are you so against giving players options to pick and choose what they actually want?
Noone is taking anything away from you.

Maybe y’all should’ve thought of that when you decided to gank anything that moved.

Did you actually read any of my posts before replying ?

Can you even bullet point reply to my post above decimating your misconceptions about Eve, and the entire reasons why you think we need a new server ?

It was within Eve’s rules, if you didnt like it, and refused to find ways to play along with it, then no one forced you to stay, or let alone complain LOUD enough that CCP would be pushed to make a special snowflake server “just for you”…

Cretin.
