Drones need a firm hand to use properly, they can split up, and even disengage from a target and attack something else (against trig ships in the abyss I have noticed this bad behavior)
You need to get your shortcuts sorted out like -
Alt X - engage target
Alt C - Return to drone Bay
Alt O - Return and orbit
Many a time I have had to spam Alt X every 5 secs to keep the little buggers from wandering off to attack a new Triglavian target.

Yes. Very much so. I have:
- F (Fight) - Engage Target
- K (Kill) - Launch Drones
- L (Leave) - Return to drone Bay
Just what’s easy for me to remember.
