It 100% will be, massive nerfs are all that @CCP_Rattati knows how to do. I can’t wait to see the player count drop even farther when all the Rorqual and Orca alts stop logging in.
in 3 months time when scarcity ends there will be 5k constant players left playing. If CCP was serious about it they would make the change now and tweak it into balance after instead of spending 3 months trying to find the right balance.
2 questions came up after reading this:
- when in Q4 were you planning on ending scarcity?
- are the carrier/cap PVE sites going to be something which will require not only the DPS of a cap, but the tank to go with it? meaning we’ll have to properly PVE tank fit our caps?
this announcement has the possibility of bringing players who quit because of the scarcity “improvements” back, although I think a lot of the reasons behind turning the minerals back on is because less people have been paying for omega with cash and just letting their accounts lapse to alpha than the genius bean counter who came up with the plan expected.
That list you just gave is a mirror of all the things I’ve said and all the questions I asked when I was brand new. I did get past that stuff however and once I had I started inviting friends to play, only to see your exact list come up over and over as I watched them vanish in far less than a month.
" In addition, capital industry is now decoupled from the rest of T1 construction,"
that is just as close too a Lie as it can get ^^
All T1 BB and all Faction Ships need the same freakstuff like Capitals
so how can someone call this “decoupled” ^^
As far as new needed content goes, we conduct PvE against pirate faction rats all the time, but in doing so we encounter slave ships, brothels, breeding structures, etc with which we can not interact meaningfully. We can’t save the prisoners. We just abandon them to their fate. Seems rather cold hearted, especially for the Gallente and Minmatar which have freed as a serious component of their in-character backgrounds. Pilots should have the opportunity to rescue prisoners (it’s done in the tutorials after all). I would forgo loot (certainly lost cargo space) for the opportunity to rescue prisoners. Mechanically, rescues should also affect loyalty point/status gain/loss with certain affiliated factions.
Do you have an EBR number?
It’s decoupled just hasn’t had a specific impulse applied to make it move away completly
The solo or small group Rorquals aren’t the problem either. The big groups with their hundreds to thousands of Rorquals are the issue. The ability to parallelize Rorqual use needs to be completely impractical. Not outright forbidden but impractical. And that’s where disallowing more than 1 active indu core within 1000 km and binding absolutely all bonuses of the Rorqual to the active indu core comes into play.
We only have retention figures from 2019. They’re not good. There’s a reason CCP focuses so much on the NPE.
Instant travel and instances sure way to kill open world pvp.
So Q1 started in Feb. I am figuring that Q4 should be Nov, Dec, Jan. Just remember that CCP is not know to be on time for much.
Take this with a grain of salt. I am figuring that it will be a group thing that can not be solo. If it is solo CCP will figure out a way to force you to be on grid longer. So that your ships or ship is at risk longer.
I personally don’t believe any of the rewards right now are worth the increased risk. Ship prices are at a RECORD high and rewards are still shrinking because of that. Risk vs reward is a joke in Eve. Look at High Sec. High Sec loses more ships every year then null sec and does not have half the reward!
Very happy to see the update - thank you.
From what you mention in the update, it looks good. Scarcity is a good thing honestly and I think the rebalancing of caps (maybe not Battleships) was necessary. The only issue I think is it took too long to implement.
For the health of the game though, I think it’s time to prohibit “ganking” in high-sec by players that are not flagged for PVP. Stealing from a can, wardecs, bounty hunting, they are all good but when someone is mining in a high-sec belt or moving cargo, they shouldn’t be subject to attack. Ganking has become so commonplace that it’s predictable - mine in a 0.5 system, and you’ll get attacked sooner or later. Don’t go through Uedema with anything over 1bil in a freighter, etc.
No one has an issue with pvp in EVE and there is plenty in low/null to be had. However, if you are just starting the game and you want to be a miner, you save up - hell you might even plex into an orca, you shouldn’t have to worry about losing it in high-sec from players if you aren’t engaging in pvp content. Several MMO’s have a ‘safe space’ area for people that want to PVE and - this is the important part - they are the majority of players in those games. For the health of EVE, CCP needs to consider the ability for players to play in high-sec 100% of the time with no risk from ganking. They will stay in the game longer and now with redistribution of ores, they do not have a significant effect on the rest of the sandbox market. Even if they did, CCP has enough levers to use (NPC miners, respawn rate of belts, etc.) to adjust the ore amounts. They could also adjust mission rewards as well (although there is very little risk from ganking there unless you use a faction BS).
CCP is an old game, getting new players should be a priority and provide options to keep them playing. If someone wants to nerd out mining veldspar with 3 accounts - let them! They shouldn’t have to worry about a small group of gankers to have fun and their subscriptions will keep the rest of the game going.
I am going to disagree with most of what you said. The problem is CSM Gold what ever KILLED whaling!! CCP nerfed the Rorqual so hard that it doesn’t pay to undock them. CCP nerfed the mobile depot so Rorquals could not save their drones. Heck half the price of a Rorqaul is the drones alone! CCP is 100% of the problem here!
You can disagree, but what you said is illogical. Whaling was fun to an extend but whaling never killed even remotely enough Rorquals to counteract the incredible damage that they caused for the economy. If you had killed 100 Rorquals every day, we would not have had the issues and there would have been some sort of balance. But you lazy stumps never did that. And even if you did, as long as you can churn them out by the dozens per day thanks to structures, it is not going to be enough to kill 100 Rorquals per day either.
Just looking at the fun aspect is exactly the reason why we had this unbalancable, unfixable Rorqual problem to begin with. And no, not a single nerf to the Rorqual in the last 5 years has fixed the issue. Every single nerf only meant that you just need to bring 1 more Rorqual to compensate. Nerfing yield or tank is not the solution. It never was and never will be. To fix the Rorqual, the number of them on grid needs to be limited. Period. Otherwise we will just end up with the same issues again once more ore becomes available again.
Interesting side aspect of the range limitation is that you could technically create much larger ore fields where several Rorquals with their Hulk or Skiff swarms can mine simultaneously. However, they would not be in support range of each other and thus could not help each other like they can do today with 20 Rorquals and 20 swarms of hyper-angry, hyper-fast and hyper-damaging drones.
Well that was a complete waste of time. Aside from moon goo and gas compression, the entire blogpost was just “look at the stuff we’ve already done and talked about many times before!”
I’ve been enjoying exploring other games as Eve is quite dull right now, mostly relating to recent changes, lacking activity in game and scarcity. There’s little to log on for.
I wonder if Marauder nerf has to do with these new capital anomalies?
Panfam just announced the great push against 1DQ and guess what … the server is already crapping itself and tidi spreads like the Covid Delta variation: hard, fast and far. Bodes well…
Making EvE a healthy game we need to do 2 things
- Fire Fozzie and Hilmar Veigar
- Put someone with actual brain instead of these 2
