I believe that for every player officially counted, there are at least ten ghost players. The actual player base is much larger than many believe, but you need to have faith in order to see the true spirits of EvE Online.
20.5 million characters - but I suspect 90-95% are abandoned.
Just make an “alt” and join one of the larger corps in a large alliance. I did that with a russian corp that had excess of 2k members. Guess what, was like maybe 12 ppl who had logged on within a 3 month period. The rest hadnt logged on in over a year.
When there’s not a lot to do…
That is very common in a lot of games, not just here. I joined a guild in another game to find there was a membership of 100 but only 2 or 3 active players. I suspected they made alts to bolster their ranks for recruiting.
Maybe it’s the more drops on twitch
theres not alot of other good games out. no zelda, no elden ring no new great fps. ITS EVE TIME
*you just saw a ghost.
that’s at somewhere around a maximum of 7,000 real players. Space is really empty, outside of really new players trying to the game for the first time, griefers and the nullblobs. It’s made for a really poor experience coming back.
Another of those classic forum false dilemmas. Sure, the 30K is inflated by multiboxers…but then so was the figure when the player count was 25K.
