No need to have the full character fit in the picture. You can zoom in further and have more focus on the character itself if you don’t care about cutting off some of the less important edges.
Looking through my own portraits I see that I did just that: the top of the head isn’t visible for any of them, apart from this guy:
… because I wanted to keep his mohawk in the picture as an important feature. But even there I cut off the top of the mohawk because I rather wanted to zoom in as much as possible.
Added a section to explain how to change a portrait in game and how to buy or use clothes they bought on the market, since this isn’t always clear to newer players.
I can’t share my portrait expertise, those are trade secrets.
I do have pointers though:
Your subject shouldn’t look directly at the camera.
Extreme close-ups are for psychos.
A smug smile goes a long way.
Shadows complement the light.
Add a bit of colors and voilà
Also, its significantly cheaper to buy the plex and then buy apparel from NES. I’ve seen some crazy markups. the wreck tat is currently 330mil worth of plex and I’ve seen them listed for 700m+.
Sadly it’s not possible to turn your character that far. I have tried.
Either they used a glitch (which do sometimes happen in the character editor, like missing texture or ‘feet in the air’ bugs), or it might have been possible in the past to turn the character further than today.
If you figure out how to do it, please let me know!
You can approximate that pose by using the far right preset pose, pushing the character all the way up, and then tilting down. (I hope all that makes sense.) To replicate the head position…is another kettle of fish,
