Evergreen Daily Login Rewards

Bottom line is if you want the rewards to encourage logging in then the rewards need to be worth logging in for and these rewards quite categorically are not. They’re essentially spam. They don’t benefit anyone.

  • If you build the BPCs you lose isk because they’re unresearched.
  • Even if you get a booster with an appropriate bonus it’s so weak it has literally no impact on your game.
  • I can’t even express how pointless a limited duration skin feels to me.

But you can’t give us anything worthwhile without having an impact on balance or the economy. More skill points would mess with the injector trade, and extractors are a major source of income. Good BPCs would devalue researched BPOs. Good boosters would compete with player produced boosters.

Because these rewards are so weak they don’t even benefit new players. 1% tracking is not going to help a new player beat a combat mission. It’s inconsequential to them.

So this really is just spamming on login, and filling up the redemption queue with stuff we don’t want. It adds management overhead to the interface, it nags us. It doesn’t inspire FOMO because there’s nothing to MO.

This is really, really badly thought out. Honestly it’s embarrassing. Stopping the booster auto injection won’t solve the issue that the boosters aren’t worth the effort. They’ll just waste inventory pixels instead of queue pixels.

They could probably give us some paltry amount of minerals, datacores, or even NPC loyalty points without messing things up too badly. Over a long enough timeline those things might be worth it for individuals, while still being not very lucrative for farming with alts.

If they wanted to make it fun, they ought to have everybody dump the junk from their hangars into a special bin - then have the login rewards be random stuff from that bin. That way, the rewards wouldn’t be creating something out of the aether - and sometimes you might get something that isn’t actually bad.

Standing boosts works better for me than loyalty point boosts because the only thing it can devalue is your own social skills investment.

On the same vein, get out of jail free tokens to allow you to decline a mission without triggering the four hour waiting window or incurring a standing penalty within the four hour window. Make them marketable. Doesn’t compete with anything, just expends the economy. If you’re not a mission runner, you have something you can convert to ISK.

Put some super rare permanent skins in that are only available as login prizes. That doesn’t compete with anything. Especially if they’re not tradeable. You’ll have to log in over a long period of time to collect them all.

But on the whole I still think making it worthwhile would be tough.

I think you’d have to change the system so that a trash pull was the SP rather than the current junk. And if you got a “good” prize you didn’t get SP that day. If the default is the SP it’s never something worthless, and you never get something you don’t want.

Oh, I know! They can get rid of passive training and give us 100% of our skillpoints as login rewards

All this talk of rewards for “logging in” misses the point; CCP should be encouraging players to actually play the game, and not merely log into the character selection screen to claim some free crap.

Encourage players to enter the game, and actually undock and go do stuff. Encourage them to participate in the economy. Encourage more opportunities for everyone, including players who hunt other players. You can’t do that with a single “claim” button and 2-run T1 small gun blueprints.

How do you fix this? Hard to say, but I have some ideas. First of all, reward actual actions. These daily missions, like the Abyssal stuff we have going on right now, are a good start, but could be taken much further. How about being able to select from a variety of tasks, such as mining X amount of minerals, collecting X amount of bounty money, causing a X amount of value in player asset destruction, etc.? Actions that you would do normally if you played, but are now more inclined to choose over logging out and playing another game.

As for the rewards, they can’t just be more generic in-game crap, because if that’s the case, then these incentives would act as merely another income stream. So here are two ideas:

  1. The chance to get unique, rare items. Possibly some kind of lottery system in which you can win stuff you couldn’t get anywhere else in the game, aside from this gameplay incentive program.

  2. The chance to get real-life stuff. I know this is kind of a stretch, but I’m sure CCP has enough resources to swing this to some degree. We’re talking EVE swag, fanfest tickets, gaming hardware, etc. They could even get some sponsors for this. Just imagine some gaming gear company providing a few mice and keyboards as prizes for the daily PvP task rewards - I’m sure many would do it for the exposure. And if not, like I said, I’m sure that CCP could swing at least a few prizes in exchange for a much healthier player graph. Hell, I’m sure even some players would be willing to pitch in.

And finally, to ensure that this is once again not something that people feel obligated to farm on all of their characters (which is exhausting and unhealthy), make this an opt-in with one reward pool per individual player. It might require some new code on the back end, but CCP already knows the accounts associated with each player, except in rare cases such as anonymously-registered bots running inside individual virtual machines, which we don’t want to reward anyway. Just let people register accounts to a single individual real-life household entity. I admit, this part might need more figuring out, but I’m just spit-balling here.

Some of the FREE boosts are for shields boosters, tracking and armor repairing. I will admit that run passive shield tanked missile ships mostly and most of the FREE boosters do nothing for me. I am not stressed about it since they are FREE.

I am sure that there are others that are like " Cool this is something that I could use!".

Try putting 100 Eve players in a room and get them to agree on a fitting for any ship.

huh? yes, i know. but he said “in inventory” not “redeem queue” just ignore them if you dont want them … they go away in 14 days =|?

i mean, i am probably one of those peoples which dont care that theres a red number somewhere.
i am well aware of it that some peoples having issues with it. markedeedragon mentitioned that in one of his streams where he said that he has some kind of illness or sickness or habbit (i cant recall what he exactly said) that he always looks at this red dot and its always there as soon something pops new in.

iunno i have no issues with that ._.

There’s nothing random about them ALL being utter garbage. Your statement would hold true if they mixed actual rewards in there like a free permanent SKIN that’s not in circulation any more, small bits of plex or ammo bpcs. Everything they’ve put out so far is redundant or useless, and anything worthwhile like the skins is useless because they’re unstable.

Automatically applying the skins you get like they do with the boosters would allow the value of current out of circulation SKINs to retain their value. They could just make then rare and people would be fine with it.

We’re pissed because everything in there is useless garbage in every metric. Anything you get you could easily buy 1000x over or just as easily ignore in favor of actual content. It’s insultingly redundant.

A more powerful motivator than free stuff is vengeance.
Here’s my proposal: every time you log in for the first time each day, a random ccp employee gets a red dot somewhere on their screen that they have to mouse over/click on to get rid of. THAT would get me to log on every damn day.

Since I had a lot of Datacores and Decryptors sitting in assets, I decided to do invention with the T1 BPC’s. All together from the log-in rewards on 4 accounts I received 20 ship BPC’s and 14 weapon BPC’s. One of the ship BPC’s I received didn’t have an invention option on it, not sure if that’s a bug or just normal.

I’ve been using Player Structures for the Invention jobs which has recently turned into a problem, probably due to CCP’s Forsaken Fortress announcement. I’ve now had to switch Structures 3 times due to Science services being shut down and Structures being unanchored. So far I’ve had a total of 13 jobs get stopped.

Currently I’ve used up my collection of BPC’s received from the log-in rewards. Due to the possibility of more player structures shutting down, I’ve decided to wait about a month or so before starting up anymore Science jobs.

For the weapon BPC’s I used Parity Decryptors which worked pretty good, every single weapon BPC produced at least one T2 BPC. For the ship BPC’s I first started using Attainment Decryptors but my success chance per run was only about 62% which caused too many jobs to fail. I then switched to Optimized Attainment Decryptors to boost my success chance up to 77% which gave me a lot more successful jobs.

Anyway, these are the results of my Invention jobs:

Completed Ship BPC’s:

(Attainment Decryptor)
1x Atron BPC 1 run = Failed
1x Talwar BPC 1 run = Failed

(Optimized Attainment Decryptor)
1x Corax BPC 1 run = Failed
1x Kestrel BPC 1 run = Failed
1x Catalyst BPC 1 run = Failed
1x Thrasher BPC 1 run = Failed
1x Punisher BPC 1 run = Failed

(Attainment Decryptor)
1x Incursus BPC 1 run = 1x T2 Enyo BPC 5 runs
1x Atron BPC 1 run = 1x T2 Ares BPC 5 runs

(Optimized Attainment Decryptor)
1x Atron BPC 1 run = 1x T2 Ares BPC 3 runs
1x Atron BPC 1 run = 1x T2 Ares BPC 3 runs
1x Incursus BPC 1 run = 1x T2 Ishkur BPC 3 runs
1x Executioner BPC 1 run = 1x T2 Malediction BPC 3 runs

1x Algos BPC 1 run = 1x T2 Magus BPC 3 runs
1x Merlin BPC 1 run = 1x T2 Harpy BPC 3 runs

1x Tormentor BPC 1 run = No Invention Option Available

Completed Weapon BPC’s:

1x Light Missile Launcher I BPC 4 runs = 2x T2 BPC 13 runs
1x 280mm Howitzer I BPC 2 runs = 2x T2 BPC 13 runs
1x 125mm Gatling AutoCannon I BPC 2 runs = 2x T2 BPC 13 runs

1x Rapid Light Missile Launcher I BPC 4 runs = 3x T2 BPC 13 runs
1x Rapid Light Missile Launcher I BPC 4 runs = 3x T2 BPC 13 runs
1x 150mm Railgun I BPC 2 runs = 2x T2 BPC 13 runs

1x Light Electron Blaster I BPC 2 runs = 2x T2 BPC 13 runs

See the thing is, if I get a gift, Id like it to be something, not an ephemeral nothing.

I dont know what the purpose of defending handing out items that cannot be used is and making them untradable.

It’s to prevent skill famers/multiboxers from unduly benefit from them.

Which honestly, kinda breaks the whole thing. You can’t hand out a reward that is valuable, but also doesn’t scale with accounts. Sure, if you make the reward worthless, that doesn’t scale well, but it kinda defeats the purpose which is what we have now.

There probably is some gift that doesn’t scale very well with multiple accounts (it will have to be untradable) that is valuable and people might like to get for logging in, but CCP hasn’t found it yet. It certainly isn’t hard-use boosters, worthless BPCs or temporary cosmetic items anyway.

Vanity items that dont melt would be a start.

Hats that arent berets or maga caps.

Or maybe even like, a corp logo for your ship?

Basically, if it disintegrates after a few days, doenst fit any of the ships I have or I cannot choose when I use it, its not a gift, its a random buff and shouldnt be made out to be some great thing CCP are doing for us slobs.

And yeah Im probably ungrareful. Ive been spoiled by WoT giving away items, permanent vanity items, and premium time for free a lot in the last couple months.

Worthless BPC’s ?

The log in days had been long and hard but after many weeks this pilot had reached the end goal of 150k

To my surprise it appears to reset the long bar for that daily long in.

The input costs are higher than the output value when unresearched for these BPCs. They actually have negative value!

I guess you could use them for invention or perhaps it might be a training path for a new player to learn how things are built, so there is marginal value there. But if you average that with the negative value of using them to build, you get something right around worthless.

The cost of an equivalent BPC for invention hardly justifies these trash copies’ existence.

For a character as old as you, I would think you’d already have the skills and knowledge to view these rewards in a positive aspect and find some way to take advantage of them. Despite what you or anybody else states here in this thread, I posted my results on using those BPC’s for Invention which proves they are not worthless.

Sure those BPC’s don’t have good stats for production. Quite frankly I don’t think that’s what they’re meant for anyway. When used for Invention, the ME and TE on the BPC doesn’t matter since those values are set by the type of Decryptor being used for the Invention process.

If you don’t have the necessary skills for doing Invention then find somebody who does. If you’ve done exploration in the past you more than likely already have the required materials needed for it. If not it doesn’t matter since those items are easily available from the Market at a very low price.

That statement right there just proves you don’t know anything about how Invention works.

Game would feel much more enjoyable without constant disappointment these trash rewards give. Leave the SP reward only.
