Does anyone here think that EVE has it’s own unique art and aesthetic? I understand the game is niche and not meant to be flashy and stuff but I compared to other science fiction MMO’s, nothing except for the Amarr Titan truly stands out as an EVE Online icon. It seemed Dust 514 was trying to fix that but it’s gone now so.
Machariel? Rattlesnake? All Megathron hulls? Hel? Nyx?
With all settings on “High” and good hardware EVE has very nice visuals, so I am not sure what you really miss…
When I first played EVE, I hated the look of the ships. The only one I half-liked was the Arbitrator; so I flew that (and got killed in it).
That was just over 10 years ago. Now, I find many of our vessels unique, interesting and even beautiful. I still like the Arbitrator’s appearance but I’ve never been able to regard the Caracal or Rupture, for example, as anything but plain ugly. It’s personal taste, this aesthetics business.
Maybe it’s the fact that the game has so many diverse looking ships. The designs of the equipment in other games, broken down by race/faction seems to be more standardized, and gives it a distinct feel. The only thing the faction ships have in common with their same faction ship is the default color palette. Dust didn’t have this problem because pretty much all of the soldiers looked the same.
