… and then they fly into Low Sec because they don’t know what to do, and lose that barge 0.005 seconds after they bought it.
That usually makes the average new player want to quit as the game stands now. When you add ‘I paid $ for this??’ I can’t see how they are going to feel any better.
CCP realy dont care if a new player has any fun. As long CCP get the $$$$ CCP is happy!!!

That’s why I got a mail from CCP asking a bunch of questions that related to Player Retention and New Player Experience and what I thought was good and what I thought was bad and what I thought was fair and what I thought was unfair because…

I’m a new player and I have a lot of fun. Perhaps it’s you.
Besides, all these people complaining: if you don’t like it (which is fine), just don’t use it. Problem solved.
Some people, you could give them the moon on a silver platter and they’d still be unhappy.
Some people are SO unhappy that NO game is good enough for them. Always btch btch btch… It has to do with their lives, not a game. There is no pleasing these people.
NO ONE is forcing anything on anybody, certainly not CCP. They’re doing their damn best to improve the game, they’re not wizards, they have no magic wand.
I think it’s pretty ballsy and outrageous to download a game, have fun on it and then come to a forum and btch about the Devs. How ungrateful some people are is beyond my comprehension.
Calling out blatant cash grab and bad corporate decision making in a game one likes and has invested a lot of time in.
- lol bro y u crying bro just dont use it bro lol bro.
All CCP is doing to new bro’s playing!!!

Sure. Fun is relative. But putting aside the fact that most folk arent either pure pvp’ers or pure pve’res - they are rather a little of both - we are talking retention rates. Most people I know that pvp have been playing the game for years. Oth - time and time again I have seen pve’rs burn out doing pi or rating or mining. The pve is terrible and repetitive. What type of game is it really - where you are doing something else like netfixs when you mining or missioning etc. . . And sure most folk stay in high sec - scared of the boogeyman that lives in low and null - but that is because most folk are not exposed to low or null early in their career. Instead, they are bubble wrapped by CCP and kept from anything remotely looking like pvp. Just maybe if CCP gave people a way to taste what null and low were like in the new player experience, things would be different.
Who cares, certainly not CCP.
…to win what exactly? Y’all repeating that mantra pay to win but you never say what it is there is to win.
I’d like to know, I want to win, too ![]()
I did have taste of Null early in my NPE. Got gate-ganked right off the bat.
I returned a few weeks later and gate-ganked right off the bat again.
I returned a few months again and got gate-ganked right off the bat, in a free frigate no less.
I learned that if you’re not part of a corporation you stay away from Null. I learned that if I want to do anything in Null without having the protection of a corporation you do it in a free frigate.
People would go to Null more often if there weren’t bloodthirsty gate-campers just waiting for the next fool to jump.
One of my Alt was ganked two days ago just mining in a free frigate. It’s cool, no biggie, but what does that tell me? It tells me that PvPers are bored out of their skull because they themselves have built a bad reputation of Null of ganking everyone and their grandma in whatever ship is used.
When that happens, it can only send one message to the adventurer who dares go to Null: Go away and keep away.
New players and PvEers didn’t build Null bad reputation, PvPers did so it’s no use to complain about it now. PvPers made their bed now they have to lay in it.
Obviously you learned wrong. I can understand your distaste for null given your experience but it’s easy to avoid being ganked let alone repeated ganks. Which is the point - ccp should setup a newbee area where players can experience null play without having to risk more then Their nubships so that they can learn about null without having to undergo a similar experience as the one you entailed. Just because your initial npe exposure to null was bad doesn’t mean it has to be that way for everyone evermore.
I had no one to tell me what is what. I just went there to find out… and I did!
I have no distaste for Null, I just know what to fly when I go there. I fly something I can afford to lose.
I just send an Alt to scout the system.
Then we’ll have a river of tears from the ganking crowd. Ain’t never gonna happen.
But it is bad. No one denies that Null is to be experienced when in a corporation. And everyone advises to join a corporation so Null can open up to a new player. No one disputes those facts, it’s the reality and will remain a reality as long as zKillboard exists and PvPers are in competition against each other on that website.
What does someone check when someone says I’m good at EVE? zKillboard naturally. That’s what PvP is, a competition to have the most ships destroyed and the salt is icing on the cake.
Those are facts, and they are undisputed.
Not a bad idea, I’m not opposed to the idea and It COULD help new players. The real problem is, what skills would you take on to make ISK? Mining? Nope… Ratting? Nope… So exploration? Sure. Missions?Maybe… Incursions? probably not with the initial investment. Capitals? Yeah no. So where does this really fit in? How does it help new players? Honestly players succeed by trying, learning, failing, succeeding and making ISK; not by being given skills. Point is, lets focus on how to get players to “make a living” in the game, and the rest falls in place.
No. Just no.
Null is not meant to be safe. It’s for team play (mainly) and you have highsec where you can be as safe as you want.
Han_Zealot obviously learnt zero from being ganked like perhaps, find different routes (why are you taking gates to null? Thera and other wh’s are a thing).
Dumbing down nullsec is not the answer to an increasingly dumbed down game.
Null is not meant to be safe
You do understand that it is a fairly decent argument that gate camps actually make Null safer at the small scale, as gate camps are almost always in the hands of the defender, since the attacker is having to move a lot more.
Cash grab.
New player buys into this. But does not know enough about the game to exploit it. Does not have enough isk to experiment. Panic ensues and they buy plex to try and save the situation. Lose everything. Quit.
Panic ensues and they buy plex to try and save the situation.
Yeah, see I just don’t see this as a common occurrence, and I think this is where the logic falls down in this argument. There is an assumption that new players will just throw dollars at the screen in panic then rage quit, and this assumption doesn’t seem borne out by anything.
Han_Zealot obviously learnt zero from being ganked
I learned plenty thank you very much.
like perhaps, find different routes
The aim wasn’t to go through Null but be in Null.
why are you taking gates to null?
Why not? I also pay my subscription just like you. It’s not your game, you don’t get to tell me where I go and don’t go or what I do and don’t do.
If I want to go to Null I will and you can gank me all you want in my free corvette but you can’t dictate how I play the game.
Addelee obviously learned zero from reading my post… if he even understood where I was going with it.
and you have highsec where you can be as safe as you want
What you talking about? Pilots can get ganked in highsec too. It’s called Suicide Ganking.
Shows how much you know the game…
