The longest train looks like the Barge Expert System, which takes around a month, I think.
I have queues that long now!
Itâs a shame you missed the days when that was impossible.
Listening again to parts of ccp rattatiâs talk about the economy, where he explains that in his opinion having to wait for skills to train and ships to be accessible is a frustrating experience for (very new) rookie pilots - hence may affect the retention rate - I cannot help but wonder how these Expert Systems come into play. Wouldnât the helpful change have been automatic (free of charge) skill levels for e.g., fitting skills (cpu/pg/cap), instead of temp skill level packs ? Sorry for the obvious questionâŚ
Has anybody already bought those âExpert Systemsâ now? I wonder what really is included, as the EVE shop is silent about its content.
On the other hand, I am eager to find those inexperienced explorers in some wormholes and give them a lessonâŚ
Considering they were just patched in, nobody has bought them yet. And they arenât for vets so any bittervets on forums wonât buy them.
Hey CCP! Being unable to see what skills weâre gonna get before buying kinda sucks. Please make an option on the buy page to review the skills!
Not to mention⌠ventures have a +2 to warp core stability, IIRC, so they are harder to stop from warping than rookie ships or most frigs⌠your main danger is bubbles on gates and getting alphaed while actually mining.
Ahhh, I remember back in 2013 when I got 2 free ventures from the career agent missions, took 1 of them into a Gallente lowsec system to try and find better ore than the belts in HS had (I didnât know about the ore anoms that existed back then⌠yet).
I think I was blissfully mining jaspet, canât remember if orbiting the rock or standing still. either way, suddenly a cloaky loki was on my overview and before I could even try and warp to the HS gate, my venture was alphaâd off grid. ;D
just looked at the expert systems packages there garbage lol why would some pay for those shitty skills when they could go and inject them for less
That idea was brought up earlier multiple times, definitely a much better option to help new player retention than selling packs of temporary skills that vanish after one week.
You can inject skills for less than $2?
whoever set this up was an idiot
I also do not understand - are the âExpert Systemsâ targeted to alpha or omega clones?
If they are targeted to alphas - do they give access to omega skills - to give them alphas a taste of what could be? If not, at least the explorer skills are worthless, as the scanning skills are trained in a fly and the frigate skills and navigation skills you will need anywayâŚ
Theyâre targeted to newbies. And an Alpha clone can unlock certain Omega skills (barges) to fly Omega ships cheaper than if they were to pay for Omega, to give them a taste of what could be.
For exploration I agree that itâs barely worth it, but it allows newbies to try out exploration without committing to it. If they figure it isnât their kind of gameplay (it requires a lot of clicking around and minesweeper-like puzzles) they didnât have to apply training or unallocated SP to those skills yet.
The biggest problem that I have with this system is that it doesnât teach a new player anythingâŚâŚ Sure you can skip a few days of training to try something out but this does not teach you anything about what youâre trying to do, nor does it teach you how to fit said ship your trying out. Many players have trouble understanding exploration for example because the in game tutorial does a horrible job of explaining what you need to do to âexploreâ, it doesnât tell you how to use probes or even explain how to open the system map to use said probes. Letting a ânew playerâ pay to be âokayâ at exploring does nothing if the new player doesnât even know how to do it in the first place. For years I have had to link video guides to rookies for them to watch so they can see what u need to do. Iâm usually on CCPâs side when it comes to trying different ways to bring in some more money for the company but I think its a bad idea to charge new players to âtryâ professions in eve. I think it would be better to revamp the tutorial again with visual ques and maybe even popup windows that point out steps for some things. I also think that new career agents should be added to help players be introduced to other areas of the game, such as incursions or abyssal sites, (which could be done by having some âtraining siteâ version of each that explains how it works without risk to newbies) as the tutorial also does a terrible job of explaining decent ways to get ISK, and rookies almost always (from my own limited experience) default to mining (missions or just mining solo) or security missions which are repetitive and arenât a good indication of all EVE has to offer in terms of PVE. Iâm sure people will buy these and Iâm sure CCP will make money but I really hope that they turn to other ways as mini/micro transactions arenât good for EVEâs future IMO.
CPP really needs to decide what they want this to be, something to help give new players a taste of the game in hope they will play longer, or a cash grab. Right now it is the second.
I was really hoping this would be something I could recommended to new players when they join corp to help them get going and experience the game. As it is, honestly I canât.
Never not have a year+ in queue
They need to just grant everyone the magic 14. They are not a training decision, theyâre required for literally everyone.
They are a training decision
They are not required at max levels for normal operation
This idea that they are required at max is silly and one of the things that causes the most harm about them
Lol, only if by max level you mean doesnât log in or undock.
