A new car, or a replacement car of similar value to the one insured?
There’s a big difference between the two.

and still, why would someone insure your ship if they know your already planning on loosing it…
…as I pointed out before, I would say a higher or kind of “bonus” payout would be fine, but only under certain circumstances.
A person that lives in a ghetto and wants to have some guarantee?
The clone… Now that. You can take the kid out of the ghetto, but…
When my implants are worth 3 times my ship?
Nah, You don’t care, right, @Kezrai_Charzai? They can’t be insured. You’re totally happy losing them, yes?
About insurance, it’s basically free money if your ship blows up within 90 days.
Some ships probably won’t blow up, because they probably won’t be caught (tanky travelceptors flown well) or because they rarely fly anything dangerous (industrial flying between two stations in one system) or rarely leave station. Insurance for those ships is likely to be wasted when you survive the 90 days.
Any PvP ship however should be insured, you’d throw away free money even for a T2 or faction hull if you partake in any dangerous action without insuring your ship. Because it most likely will blow up within 90 days. Even if the payout doesn’t cover a big part of the cost of a T2 hull, free money is still better than no free money. Insure!
(Also, I think EVE’s insurance companies are crazy.)
The cheapest of those options. My poor car is pretty old, now. An old one from 2003, but they still actually make it.
A Hyundai Accent, if you must know. I’m not sure how it would go, on paper, if it was needed. But I’d probably get a new accent.
You may want to check on that; with most, if not all, insurers you’d get the blue book (trade) value for a 2003 Hyundai Accent.
The exception would be if you had an agreed payout value on a car that is now worth considerably more than when it was new. My 1974 Ford Escort for example is insured for circa £7000, brand new it was less than £700
Insurers will never pay out the value of a new car for a used one, monetarily it makes no sense.
Probably not. I’m used to the trickledown. The graft. It’s from 2003.
My wife, however, is sporting a new 2018 Ford. She’s making payments, and will be for the next 3 years or so, but. Yeah, I could just pay cash for it. Why should I? It’s her first new car, and an experience.
I get it that not everything I do is optimal.
If it gets totalled, you’ll get less than the value of the finance, because the moment it leaves the dealership it loses a chunk of value as it is now a used car. Then the finance company will want a goodly chunk of that to clear the finance agreement.
You really are kinda clued out. Let me re-state the point more simplistically:
“What kind of insurance company would issue insurance on a combat ship, that an immortal clone who is going to survive the destruction of his ship anyway, is taking into battle?” The business model for doing so is rather sketchy, at best.
As to your other misconception:
If I was so foolish as to put expensive implants into a head that was likely to get blown up, I would of course conduct any risky activities using a jump clone that has cheap, disposable implants, if any.
You like jumping to erroneous conclusions, it seems. Here’s a few more:
I do not ‘dislike’ you, you are essentially irrelevant to me. You have implied that I am against your notions just because I am some entitled, lazy ‘coaster vet’, whereas I am in fact patiently and at length explaining to you how you can cope with the challenges of the game, rather than fail and expect the game to be adjusted to suit your failings.
I am not a bitter vet, or an old timer, or sitting on grandfathered piles of skill points and BPOs. I haven’t told you any stories about ‘the good ol’ days’. In fact, in my 12-year history with EVE, I’ve only paid for maybe 8 months of sub, some $5 package purchases, and a single small Plex purchase.
(Although, ‘back in the day’ - my first ‘old days’ story - you could refer your alt account for a 21-day trial, then buy one of the nifty little $5 packages Explorer or Industrialist packages for 20 more days of trial, then sub the account for a month, which turned all 71 days into ‘subbed’ time, and sent your main account an extra 30 days of sub to boot. Ah, those were the days my friend, we thought they’d…)
Anyways, most of my game time has been on alt accounts, most of my pilots have between 4M and 7M SP, I’ve never been to Null, I rarely go to low sec, I don’t PvP except as an experiment, I have no interest in killing anyone who isn’t trying to kill me first, and I took the time and effort to learn how to avoid those who would consider me fair prey. I’ve been ‘ganked’ twice in 12 years, both due to mistakes on my part that I should have avoided, but I let either emotion or haste override my better sense.
I am just as disadvantaged by all the ‘fat cats’ and vested interests in the game as you are. I am, in fact, pretty much exactly the sort of ‘casual’ you profess to be. Except for the key difference that I assume it is up to me to learn how to make the game work, rather than expect the game to change to suit me and pull out the “but this isn’t fair, guys” card whenever it doesn’t.
I suppose so.
It didn’t happen, though. She’s already had it for 3 months, and it’s fine. What the heck? Paranoid much?
We’re getting a bit off topic, I think, too…
I stopped there. As I should have, right?
This is why poors need to be eradicated
In Nashville, no less… At least it’s not Memphis. The King is still The King. Elvis is not exactly crap.
I got to see this, and I also got to meet Elvis. Age. Has some advantages, I guess. Sit down and shut up, @Nep-Neps.
You should go read the other 3 threads he made (all now closed). Quite entertaining.
Fine.
You. Jonah. You, I look up, and you… Well.
Damn, dude. If I’m not mistaken, the end result of all those thousands of posts is that you are an alpha, like me?
Dang, we’ve really moved, haven’t we?
Yes, I’m currently an alpha, what of it?
I have little time to play and I can do most of what I want to do with an alpha account. If I want to do something that isn’t possible as an alpha I shall subscribe like I did for 7 years before alphas became a thing.
Nothing, ‘of it.’
Just envious of how you can keep the rabble off you. Kudos.
That’s easy, I don’t whine on the forums or act entitled.
Are you sure?
Well, fine, let’s go with that. So you’re content being a token?
