̶F̶l̶e̶e̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ Shipping up

I wonder how many fleets never form or are smaller than otherwise possible because shipping up requires too much trust and/or manual input

That’s why you tell your members to prepare their own ships in advance before the fleet.

What if they cant?

Then they buy one right at the start of the fleet.

Link fits in MOTD and make sure the market is stocked.

How many times will you ask that question?

If they cant prepare their own ship in advance they should just buy one before the start?

Then they go to the forums to troll.

I cant believe we seem to disagree

I do easily believe it, you haven’t shown to be sensible in any of your barrage of bad threads posted over the past few days with that forum alt.

It’s good to ask questions, but you seem to be too stubborn to listen to the answers.

If it was simple and safe to mass gift ships there would be more fleet fights i think

I doubt it.

The limiting factor of fleet fights is the availability of members, not of ships.

If the distribution of ships to members who are too new to afford their own ships is a bottleneck in your alliance your alliance should fix that logistical issue.

As I already said, in my alliance new members can at any time ask for a bunch of free ships to last for multiple fleets, which many of the veteran players can hand out.

This means that instead of one fleet commander distributing 150 ships to 150 people right at the start of a fleet, many players can hand the newbies a lot of ships so that the majority of players is prepared to go even before a fleet is called.

Now you can adapt or you can keep asking the same questions that were already answered again and again.

What the heck is this guy even arguing about?

  • teach the member which “doctrines” you fly, order them to have at least one ship that fits in to be ready in their hangar at all times, for the newbros, it can be a cheap one
  • if they really can’t afford one, give them the first one for free or give them options to make big money within the alliance so they can afford what you demand from them.
  • if they lose one, replace it via SRP, quickly.
  • have a shared hangar with some pre-fitted ships for the rare cases someone messed up or lost a ship that has not already been replaced, so these few can simply take one out of this hangar

Any members who can’t follow this simple procedure simply can’t fly with the fleet. And get kicked if he isn’t willing to maintain this basic level of preparation.

That is not a simple procedure and kicking people for not being able to follow it is how you end up with a member shortage and smol fleets

Absolute Honor may have problems, but from an outsider’s perspective I don’t think ‘member shortage’ is one.

“These are the ships we fly have one of each at x station so you’re able to join fleets”
This is the simplest, most common, and generally the most effective.

If you’re doing a pick up fleet with a bunch of strangers like npsi but want to provide ships. Or you’re doing a last minute deployment to an unprepared area contracts are your best bet. You can simply put up the 150 ships on contract and limit who they are avaliable to. Depending on the level of security you can put them up for free even. Though i recommend putting them up at market price. After the fleet members can put up another contract to sell it back to you at the same price or link you their loss mail to be reimbursed.

If you’re within a corp you can just put the needed ships in a hanger and tell people to grab what they need

If your process for joining the corp and fleet is complicated that’s why you have a member issue and the easier it is to form fleets the more pew pew there will be. I rest my case

Not kicking problem elements will lead you to a member shortage much quicker

You’re the only one who seems to find these simple methods to be complicated

Its cumbersome to mass gift ships in a fast and secure manner. I rest my case

It’s a good thing no one in this thread is telling you that’s how it’s supposed to be done then

I seem to recall in INNIT, they did contracts to get out to the ones who needed ships

That is a very simple procedure and kicking people that are unable to “buy a single ship and store it in their hangar” is healthy for your alliance because it increases the average skill by quite a lot. What do you want with people in your fleet who can’t even buy a ship with a fitting they got linked? There is little in EVE that is easier than that. If they can’t do that, they will probably fail at everything else.
