Usually, when i run high sec combat anomalies, i loot every wreck, and sometimes i get loot worth 2 or 3 million or so.
But recently i heard that its better to ignore all wrecks in high sec combat anomalies, and instead focus on getting faction spawns, which have a chance of dropping something valuable, and getting escalations.
is it possible to change the looting experience in PvE, such that loot that is low value and is a waste of time to loot, stops dropping, so people like me stop wasting our time looting low value items, and instead focus on high value items?
I loot every single wreck and metal scrap, and never knew that its better to ignore every wreck and just focus on doing high sec combat anomalies fast to get faction spawns and escalations, instead of looting every wreck and get occasional 2 or 3 million worth items, when i could have ignored it and gotten a escalation or faction spawn worth 100 mil
would be nice if low value loot stopped dropping and distracting and wasting peoples time like me who arent smart, so we can focus on getting high value loot.
in the 1 hour i spend looting a certain amount of combat anomalies, i could have done more combat anomalies in that time, ignored the loot, which was probably only 4 million or so, and could have gotten a escalation or faction spawn that gives me 100 mil.
That would completely remove the whole concept of “random loot”, if only the valuable stuff drops. Besides that, whole industries rely on collecting crap-loot and reprocessing it to generate a mineral supply.
Yeah and guess what would become impossible if no low-value loot drops any more? Right, exactly those items wouldn’t be sold any more because they wouldn’t drop any more. Genius.
I loot everything, and anything below around 50k, sometimes 70k in value gets scrapped and used for my industry.
Anything over around 50k I check the market then sell it locally, I never bother taking it to a trade hub if I have players with buy orders within reach.
Back in my newbro days (I mean REALLY newbro. I could barely fly a Vexor) I made very decent isk looting and salvaging Hubs and Havens in popular ratting systems for the alliance i was in at the time.
The loot was 99% junk that I sold off to a reprocessor along with the mountains of t1 salvage. The more valuable meta modules I’d take to Jita and sell (this was pre-tiericide, some meta 4 modules were worth more than t2).
In one long afternoon I made over 1b ISK. Which happily kept me in Mauluses and Algos for months.
So, that crappy loot does actually have solid value in bulk. It’s a resource that a lot of ratters just leave dangling in space.
