Some time ago I decided to rejoin the EVE community in hopes that some of the issues I had encountered had been addressed. Come to find out not much has changed, man I am glad I did not buy any game time…
At any rate I am having an issue with the file checker, after several days of my isp taking a dump, I finely manage to get back on line. Only to find my game file checker is stuck. Any way to stop the process? If the fix is to reinstall the game. Forget it, I am not going to wait 10+ hours for the game to reinstall. I can go buy some old D&D games off of eBay and spend time playing them.
Yeah I am grumpy atm. And it is my fault for having high expectations for EVE…
Al righty, seems that the helpful ppl are afk.. out to lunch.
After a few minutes of thinking I did figure it out.
I went into windows settings and opened installed programs, then found the two installed programs for eve. I uninstalled them and closed everything and restarted my comp. From there I reinstalled just the basic eve program. I did not opt for the full install, it was still on my comp.
After installing the latest launcher wa la, I have a working launcher, For those who can not fly through through space without crashing, I suggest you search for the latest windows C++ runtime environment and install it. You will see the crashing has stopped.

Well i have read it, but since i use Linux i couldn’t reproduce or contribute to your problem and solution.
The only thing i would know is that depending on your specific system, the actual file checking can take ages to complete…IIRC i had it running once on one system for 4-5 hours…it also helps to first select “remove unused files” before doing the file check…
