I haven’t played in like 4 years or so. It used to be that you could grab a module (turret, whatever) out of your assets box, and drag it over to the fitting menu. But this doesn’t seem to work anymore - I grab the module, drag it to the ship and… nothing.
In fact, the only way I have found to get around this is to right click every module and click “fit to active ship.” This is immensely tedious, in no small part because every time you do that, the asset box “jumps” up to the top.
What am I doing wrong here? Is it no longer possible to drag items from your personal assets to fit out a ship?
Also… random comment: the new version of these forums is a text-heavy eyesore. I am so sorry to see World of Warcraft’s blighted forum style expanding its ugly tentacles here :/.
This is still possible. Are you trying to fit your currently active ship and are you pulling the modules from your Item Hangar as opposed to a corp hangar that you have limited access to?
if by “assets box” you mean the Item Hangar (ALT+C) then yes that still works as how you remember it; or if you mean the Assets Window (ALT+T) then you have it wrong.

Hello, while I enjoyed reading your post: please don’t engage in WoW bashing on here. I don’t appreciate it, and neither do the millions of other players that play WoW. It’s a brilliant game, just not for everyone.
And in case you’re wondering: I don’t play WoW. But I will defend a game that still places importance in the original MMO trinity.

Now to answer your question - if you press ‘Escape’ on your keyboard and see the options screen, there is an option somewhere under general settings at the centre to ‘merge station window with items hangar’ - make sure this is checked.
This option will enable you to view your items hangar - usually on the right side of the screen when you dock at a station, directly underneath the station panel. You can view your ships docked there and any modules etc by clicking on the tabs. Open the ship fittings window and then you can drag and drop items from your items hangar directly onto the ship (if the modules are compatible/a free slot is available).
