Fix the multiboxing gank problems!

Eve is great game but, as everyone has experienced, the gank problems are out of control: a reoccurring problem in HS and a nightmare in LS. 99% of it is multiboxing. New players (even Omega accounts) struggle to develop in game tactics to survive in new a corp when you’re now up against a single player running a full fleet that can simultaneously launch against you.

The solution to the problem is simple. STOP ALLOWING OMEGA ACCOUNTS TO PAY WITH PLEX. Since PLEX is bought and sold in market, this compounds the problem.

  1. Ganker builds up enough ISK to multibox a few accounts.
  2. Earned income via Mining, Ganking, Warfare, etc then increases exponentially
  3. Number of Omega accounts financially supported increases to the max manageable.

How to temper this problem? Omega accounts should be cash only. Not only would it solve most gank problems, but it would also destroy the pyramid scheme it has become.

PLEX isn’t the problem and if you get rid of PLEX, you take out a great portion of the player base. Just stay away from Jita. Go to Dodixie or Amarr or Rens. Jita is not your friend.

The internet can help you fit your ships. Practice and experimentation can help as well.

It won’t stay in Jita. When 4-4 dries up they’ll spread out to new ganking grounds in the other trade hubs. That’s just how it is, predators follow the prey.

That won’t happen until enough players have quit that this game shuts down.

I agree, it’s ridiculous that a person has to have a multiboxed fleet to succesfully gank in HS space.

People should not need to be multiboxing to successfully kill, this is a problem indeed.

Maybe increasing the delay for CONCORD to arrive, or a nerf to freighter and barge hitpoints would make it possible to gank without heavy reliance on multiboxing.

make it possible to hire NPC fleet mates that can be controlled like units in a RTS game.

No ne just needs to increase his tank by 10 fold.

Increasing tanks just pushes the remaining gankers to multibox even more ships, which makes the described ‘multiboxing gank’ problem even bigger than it already is.

Surely the opposite should happen?

“Fewer multiboxing gankers” can only be accomplished if killing a ship in HS before CONCORD arrives requires a more reasonable number of ships, i.e. a lower number of ships.

Nah. It should take 100 ships to blow someone up in High Sec. That drives up the need to buy more PLEX which means more cash money for CCP since people like me sell PLEX.

Making it so that a multiboxer can blow up a ship with just two ships lowers my profit margin.

This is actually sound logic. OP doesn’t like multibox gankers so lower target EHP meaning they won’t have to multibox anymore. Problem solved!

That’s less money for CCP though. Fewer accounts being PLEXed.

Although. I can see the advantage of this. Sorry i didnt see it earler.

Just lower the EHP of all small and medium ships. Rats become more difficult. Abyss becomes impossible. And ships blow up more easily. I love it!

The problem with ganking is not the number of catalysts fielded against people, but that people are caught on grid with the catalysts.

The first and prime tactic in EvE for me has always been picking my fights. Nobody in this game wants a fair fight, we all want fights that we can win. If you are caught on grid, you have already made the fatal mistake.

What’s the problem with this?

I want to point out the OP included Low Sec, “LS”, in the problem area as far as “ganking” is concerned.

The OP specified it is a “reoccurring problem” in HS, and a “nightmare” in Low Sec…by this choice of wording, I’m guessing it’s much, much worse in lowsec.

Gosh, lowsec…I can’t imagine!

@Uriel_the_Flame

I’m just expressing a personal opinion. I hate npcs. Just throwing that out “there”.

One rational voice in the sea of absolute nonsense

Didn’t endorse it, just seemed like a fitting idea, and also was a joke as I see zero chance CCP or most players agreeing with it, on the contrary just the mere thought of bringing this up is expected to spice things up (as in stir up the hive), hence the popcorn emote at the end.

Just a little clarification (without getting into the discussion): Ganking is a general term used to describe when a single player is being overpowered by multiple others. It can be in any part of space.

Do you have evidence that shows that multiboxers in general pay for their accounts with PLEX rather than real life money?

Not that PLEX is the issue at all, but I’d like to see those statistics on account subscriptions through PLEX vs real money, and on multiboxing accounts more specifically to back up this assumption.

How about no more Omega multi boxed mining fleets, farmers, haulers, or mission runners. Cash-only. Fair is fair, right?

CCP wouldn’t ever cut that deep into their own flesh, so why even discuss it?

Massmultiboxing is a “thing” because many parts of the gameplay are designed in a way that reward bringing multiple ships. Especially to content that is simple enough to control many clients at once because only very little decision making is required, slow reaction times are sufficient and the tasks to repeat are pretty non-complex.

Combine this with the simple fact that CCP wants (and needs) fresh cash each month (and accounts eating up PLEX will keep the PLEX price high, rewarding others to sell PLEX that they bought for RL cash), you will see why such a thing won’t ever happen.

CCP shouldn’t restrict the usage of PLEX, they should re-design HS-piracy in a way that you simpy don’nt need 5, 10, 20 accounts to be a successful pirate. And the same goes for any other content like mining or ratting: reward skill, knowledge and tactics and allow solo-players to outperform multiboxers. This would give people the free choice: learn and put effort in the activity OR have it the convenient way and multibox it (for PLEX) and both ways can be successful.
