I spend hours suspect hunting right outside Jita station. If anyone knows the status outside Jita it’s me. More than 98% of the time there are no multibox ganking fleets hanging around. There’s just one or two solo gankers.
What’s more, the tiny amount of the time that there’s some guy with a 14 Catalyst fleet, he’s parked outside in a position where he simply can’t target you right away. You can simply re-dock and hope to exit one of the smaller exits.
The notion that there’s hundreds of multibox gankers hanging about is just sheer nonsense. You can take it from someone who spends hours outside Jita that such claim is simply not true.
What’s more, I often suspect hunt all the way from Jita to Amarr as well. Where are these massive gank fleets ? Yesterday I travelled all the way to Amarr and back and did not see a single ganker ! Safety were way off this route…over in Chelien area.
The dreaded lowsec…like when I popped into Kubinen yesterday to cloaky camp the gate…and there was no-one there and no-one showed up. Come to think if it, I also got my scout back from some highsec island and didn’t meet a single person in the lowsec part.
There was a suggestion in another thread that all clients should have a input delay on focus to reduce the impact of mass multiboxing and more importantly ‘isk-boxing’ like mechanics that are certainly in use but not currently being detected.
I just came back from a full epic arc run in HS. Means all Empire’s L4 Epic Arcs, which include hundreds of jumps through all areas of HighSec.
Amarr Arc done on 28.07.
Minmatar Arc done on 31.07.
Gallente Arc done on 31.07.
Caldari Arc done on 02.08.
About half of those more than 100 Jumps left and right around the trade hubs I made semi-afk, offline harders, some on Autopilot.
I didn’t use a scout.
I was scanned ONCE while on Autopilot in all those jumps, on a trade route between Dodixie and - Jita, so one of the most crowded areas in the whole game.
I never was attacked and I didn’t even remotely spot any organized ganking fleet. Neither Tornados, nor Talos’ nor Catalysts… nothing. No one messed around with my MTUs (and yes, they take quite some time in the missions with all the Navy Tags). Nobody even cared for me.
And thats while flying one of the most expensive ships you can fly in HS. A nicely skinned T2 Marauder.
So don’t some guys here feel really stupid spreading all those lies about “how ganking kills the game” and “how you are harassed and killed at every corner”? For 99% absolutely nothing happens in HS. It is really simple: Move away ~10j from the Tradehubs and just do your thing. You won’t even see a Ganker in weeks unless you idle around afk at some spot for a longer time or fly an obviously untanked/overblinged ship carelessly or on Autopilot.
My only other issue is bombers having no targeting delay after decloaking. It’s completely unnecessary for their role (bombing) and it makes it impossible to counter when they act as tackle. They are better than interceptor in this role outside of a conventional battle (which 9 out of 10 times doesn’t really require an interceptor for tackle). A competent multi-boxer with a bomber tackle cannot fail to catch anyone.
Multiboxing should not be allowed at all… It deliberately allows the rich to take advantage of the game at everyone else’s expense… Total greedy BS that CCP and Pearl Abyss allowed so the whales would pay for more Omega accounts… News flash…giving the whales this unfair advantage allows them to parlee their in-game profits from multiboxing to pay for their extra omega accounts, thus defeating the purpose… “Equity and Inclusion” got tossed out the window for their blatant greed to squeeze the life out of this game… It’s a crying shame…
I have seen multiple multiboxers coming and going out of Amarr in very recent weeks. It’s not hard to find one. One of my corp mates saw a 12 ship Kronos one pass by between Amarr and Jita.
Since there is not a single Eve Online player that will ever break the rules, it’s safe to assume that they are using EVE-O Preview which puts a box on the screen for each Eve account which allows for quick access to each window with one click. That way you don’t have to minimize, maximize, and lose track of which account is which. It’s much faster that way. You can even have those boxes on another monitor so that they don’t cover up your game.
That way, you can move from window to window, targeting your enemy with each one. If you have your guns already pre-heated, each ship will fire immediately after acquiring the target. If all ships are cap stable, you can also have any tracking buffs etc. already running as well.
Then it’s simply a matter of getting in range with a fleet warp and then quickly acquiring targets one by one.
I use two accounts, but I run them on two separate monitors. I like to see them both at the same time.
I wasn’t just lucky, else I had to be lucky for the last 15 years in HS. It isn’t like I am saying that “gankers don’t exist!”. I say they are WAY less dangerous and rare and game-breaking than some people here want to make everyone believe.
It is hilariously easy to avoid them and not be ganked. Everyone can literally learn that in a day. And become almost gank-immune for all the years to come. HS definitely is 99.9% safe space where no one will ever interfere with your daily business as long as you stick to the simple rule “pay attention and don’t do stupid things”.
Lol…no-one’s going ganking in 14 Billion worth of Kronos fleet !
The few times I’ve seen the 14 Catalyst fleet at Jita…I am often parked just 15km or so away from it. That’s how scared I am not. You do know optimal range for those blasters is only around 1km or so ?
While I don’t multibox nor do I promote it, it is a legal part of this game and CCP makes money off it from both direct sales and plex. Plex has to be purchased by someone, it is not printed and doesn’t grow on trees. In short, CCP will lose money on sales.
About the only thing you can do is the old adage; If you can’t beat 'em, join 'em. Since this is a legal activity you can do the same. Either sink paycheck after paycheck into something that really has no purpose or buy plex for ISK running several accounts. Rent server space, multibox, and pay to blow them up with your 100 alt accounts. Crazy insane isn’t it?
As I see it, CCP let the Djinn out of the phylactery and cannot put it back now. There will always be users who will multibox this game legit ( or not ) and use the excuse, it was legit before they changed the rules. You just have to deal with it.
I have multiple Omega…but I hate doing multiboxing. In fact, multiboxing even two ships in the middle of a fleet battle is an utter pain in the bum. I’ve never done better with two ships than I have with being able to focus on just one. It’s hard enough to focus on where one ship is, if you get ‘pushed’ away…its a complete nightmare with two, especially if one is pushed and the other isnt.
I generally only use multiboxing for scouting, where it is extremely handy to have real time intel. I’ve also multiboxed a few times for station bashing, as that is largely just going round and round some structure.
Not arguing that, but Dodixie-Jita route is camped like 80% of the time I pass through there. And I pass through almost daily (less within the past weeks, true, because it’s summer time and I’m not actually f*cking around on the internet and wasting my summer), and multiple times a day when I go. So, you happened into that 20% window when it was not camped. Saying gankers are not as dangerous, and saying ‘‘didn’t remotely spot any organized ganking fleet’’ are two different things and instill a completely different impression in the readers.
Look up zLegion characters on zkillboard. They’re just one multiboxer regularly on that bottleneck there.
Nobody cares about a ship with a T2 fit and they certainly do not care what skin is on it when their 30 bot accounts are in potato mode.
Do that again with purple modules and then come back to brag.
Just because one person made it through the everfree forest does not mean it is safe.
Only dumb bot farms will run 23/7, running all the time might as well submit a ticket self-reporting, though even then CCP would take their sweet time in handing out a ban. The other massive red flay for a bot is seeing their [0-99] accounts online after downtime, but when there is a node crash or a mass network disconnect, most of their accounts stay offline because the actual human is AFK and not signing them back in.
Aunt Jemmima’s Southern Kitchen was a particularly egregious example and during the worst of the AFK cloaky camping era.
Now its those random herons cargo scan scraping everything into eveprasial as it sails past for the muppets in Udema.
Tell me you do not live in null without saying you do not live in null. Most null groups where bombs are actually allowed only use the bombs to void bomb capitals. Bombers in small gang really do not contribute much, in a fleet some random bomber dropping bombs at a target is just going to piss off the FC.
Assualt frigates are secondary point, ceptors are primary, especially these days when people can fit a garmur to go 7k a second.
This discussion is about ganking, while there may well me some using stealth bombers, traditionally it is all thrashers, catalysts and talos.
Ban Multi-boxing, or multi-accounting?
In 2011 CCP Zulu made a statement on SP for $$$ and just last week the NES was updated to include SP for free on all bundles. Shame indeed.
Which is why rather than going on about banning multi-boxing/multi-accounting, the ask should be to add a ‘on focus’ delay to any input. For people who are running 1 or 2 accounts, this will not be much of a problem, but for someone who is running 30 its one of the few disincentives that scales.
So? Putting a ESS off a citdadel was legal until it was an exploit. Putting one in the end of a superior sleeper cache was legal until it was not.
Rules can be changed if enough people agree.
CCP did not do anything, people’s computers just got better to the point they could run more than one client, then so much better they could run many clients. Since EVE was released that’s been easily 10 times where computing power doubled, the only thing stopping people running more accounts is the endless bloat and chrome that has been added to the game.
Multiboxing in contested space is very different to a gank. Its a lot hard to fight people who do not have to wait for their opponent to fire first.
They can not legally simultaneous launch against you, the player MUST go through each window and issue the activate weapons + select target orders. Broadcasting commands to only control 1 ship and have computer mimic your actions on rest, is not allowed.
Something about the speed written previously:
A Fast human can do about 180 APM on a computer, Actions Per Minute (180 APM = 3 actions per second), here referring to actual actions and not things certain RTSs counts as actions (you play a game of Star Craft and NEVER trigger some APM spam, this is what you get if fast. Yes fastest is faster than fast, talking about a fast human here, not thee fastest).
ALT TAB would be 1 action, but a particular slow one, as the computer has to respond which takes some time (remember here the average action for a fast person is 0.33 seconds long, if your computer takes 0.1 second to ALT TAB, that is a large portion of the time already used by not the human).
F1 would be 1 action (particular fast one).
Click on target would be 1 action (about average time, and reduced in time if fx put overview at same screen coordinate for all clients, so you don’t have to move mouse to do it repeatedly).
(For anyone who haven’t noticed, you don’t have to target the target (CTRL Click), when the weapon group is activated by F1 you will automatic target the next thing you click, and weapons start firing when the targeting finish).
This means a fast person can start 1-2 catalysts per second. Would seem a reasonable way to start dealing with input broadcasting, would be whenever groups of 4 catalysts is started per server tick, an alarm triggers at CCP’s offices for investigation.
Yep! And no one would ever break that rule. No one bots and no one does real money trading either. This is the most honest player base in all the history of gaming. I wish people would realize that.
