Fix the multiboxing gank problems!

I have my Providence in the same hangar in HS which I can just about fit all my stuff in, including ships when they’re all re-packaged.

Nobody cares if you would quit then. You (and some others) keep claiming that a prevention of (mass)multiboxing cannot be enforced. But it could. Easily. Call of Duty™ implemented Kernel-Access as requirement for Installing und using the game, they got a shitstorm for 3 days and then still hundredthousands of players accepted it.

True that. I just disagree with the “lot of”. It has been done before and if it offers a clear benefit (for example: anti cheat mechanics) for the players, some will reject it for privacy reasons, the overwhelming majority will accept it. Then screw the few that leave the game over it. You can’t ever satisfy everyone.

So what? The goal isn’t to make it absolutely impossible, the goal is to cut off the huge widespread usage. If people use their own scout or hauler on a second physical machine, so be it. Nobody cares and it doesn’t affect the game negatively in a noticable way. It basically has been that way from day one. The people running group-content with 5, 10, 15, 20 chars is what makes all the others that just want to play casually uncomfortable. As repeatedly stated in endless discussions. It gives EVE a bad reputation and while giving CCP additional cash from those multiboxing-subs, it also might (we don’t know that fore sure unless it is tested) cost them even more subs from all those people who find EVE to be an unattractive game because of the way it is designed in favor of multiboxing.

That being said, we come again to the point where some cracknerd needs to “buy 20 laptops” and individually control all clients on 20 different machines, which is a huge inconvenience, makes hotswapping the controls a lot more stressful, watching alls screens a lot more stressful, leading to a LOT lesser performance and MUCH higher effort and costs. And that alone will make sure not even 0.1% of the player population will do it. Should one IT braniac in his mothers basement dungeon really do it, it simply won’t influence the game noticably.

Again: What people don’t realize (and this is why this discussion is so utterly stupid) is the simple fact that the goal is NOT to make multiboxing or massmultiboxing a 100% physical impossible. The goal is to cut it down from everyday usage to a rare exception that comes along with risks, performance losses and a lot of effort and inconvenience. And THAT is technicalls very easy to achieve.

Why don’t you get that this does absolutely not matter? If you run a couple of checks on a Virtual Machine, any even mediocre skilled IT guy can tell you from the results that this is no physical PC but a VM environment. Of course if you know what check is performed, you can trick it by giving out any result as return. But in case of a client software you simply don’t know that before. And since CCP could be pretty creative, chances are high that you are simply busted at some point.
And again: This is something 99.99% of the users couldn’t even pull off, so the goal would still be achieved.

You are arguing with someone who worked in I.T for for 30 years. You clearly haven’t a clue what you are talking about. So just for you, here’s what Google has to say….

“MMORPGs can gather various data points from your computer, including system information, gameplay statistics, and network details. This data helps the game function, but it can also be used for analysis, optimization, and potentially targeted advertising.

Here’s a more detailed breakdown:

System Information:

  • Hardware Specifications:

MMORPGs might collect basic information about your CPU, GPU, RAM, and operating system to optimize game performance and ensure compatibility.

  • Software Environment:

They might check for installed software, including drivers and other applications, to troubleshoot potential conflicts or identify areas for improvement.

  • Network Configuration:

MMORPGs need to understand your network connection to manage data transfer and latency, ensuring a smooth gameplay experience. “

Running EVE on a virtual machine is not against the rules, so no, you are not busted.

Haven’t you ever bought a new computer, and when you start using it you get those emails from various apps saying ‘ we have detected that you have logged in on a new device…please confirm it was you…etc ‘. Being able to uniquely identify your PC is just one of the things any app can do.

Every profession is advantaged by it and most people do, which is the point.

Also Im not calling you a poor, but you dont sound like you have much stuff.

Would you like some?

We are actively talking about new rules here that would forbid multiboxing, pure hypothetical. Knowing CCP would never do it for financial reasons.

But in such a hypothetical scenario, how do you come up with the weird idea that CCP wouldn’t simply close that loophole and just not allows EVE to be played in a VM? If detected, the client stops loading and gives you an error message “blablabla against our policy blablub” like it is today if you try to log in multiple Alphas.

Well we know why they do that, more Omegas, which brings us back to multiboxing.

Multlboxing is like illegal you know what , governments say they putting their foot down, but do they really?

Lol, I’m far from poor.

I have all I need and don’t really need anything that I need to spend Isk on.

There’s only so much you can buy and use.

But here’s a warning, don’t fall asleep in a level 4 mission

And that needs to happen twice. First in a system where they scan and then in system they gank. It is rare for gankers to try decloak and even if they would have this setup they would attempt to do this in gank system. If you cloak in scan system you don’t even have to cloak later - since they won’t know what you are hauling they won’t try to gank you.
