Christ, man. Bit harsh to someone who’s lost a lot IRL from the Australian wildfires and now losing a lot in EVE as well due to being unable to get into game due to covid-19, literally the last two things CCP’s done plex4good for…
And what you say about CCP owning all our space pixels may be true, but if everyone realized that fully every time they logged in to the game… well, let’s just say they’d log in a lot less often and the game would die a whole lot quicker. We need to feel invested to keep playing. I think CCP knows that.
Sorry to hear of your troubles. That really blows, all of it.
Stations that are in LP mode prior to the introduction of Forsaken Fortress are grandfathered in and will not enter abandoned mode. If/when the owner of the station enters the game, the 7 days timer starts and from then on out the station is treated normally.
This is a bad way to do it as it leaves a whole bunch of abandoned stations needing significant effort to deal with.
What should happen is a shift to asset safety of all inactive characters stuff in all upwell structures they have it in. Inactive in this case defined as “Haven’t logged in since the Dev blog was first posted”. This solves inactive players in a far more elegent way while allowing for the removal of the structures.
Bonus points for CCP if they also implement an automatic asset safety for 3 months inactive, to solve those unexpected inactivity characters.
This also avoids having to do any kind of weird coding conditionals. And just runs a database action instead.
I was informed by CCP that no-one would have assets moved by them.
According to CCP Support, assets have always been at risk in Citadels and it is (simply put) against CCP policy to assist players who are unable to get in game and at risk of losing years woth of accrued assets due to a change in a game mechanic.
They did however suggest I contact an old corp member and give them the login details for all my accounts and trust he will do the right thing and move my assets for me.
Personally I think CCP should have support staff that 1. understand what an EULA is, 2 understand game mechanics surrounding coming changes.
I would crack a joke like “everyone in need send me your login details and I will save all your assets ✱wink wink✱” but even that can be considered an EULA violation so not even comfortable joking around it. Quite amazing a support person would recommend such a “solution”.
I’d post the reply from support but that too is against the rules so, yeah.,.
I have a feeling the person who replied to me was giving advice based on what he or she would do in my situation rather than what is acceptable under the EULA.
I would hate to see anyone from my old corp risk being banned for helping me.
Guess I’ll just hope for the best and see what happens.
Fuel your station for a decent time (3-6 months) and you can be sure if someone actually kicks you in the balls and you spend a week in ICU, your ■■■■ will be fine. And if you can’t afford half a year of fuel, probably should not have bought that station at all.
Not to defend CCP, but I have to ask. @Sgt_Ocker Did you contact CCP about your problem before posting publicly? The reason I ask is I have to wonder if you had not posted in the forums and just sent in a petition, if CCP might have acted differently “behind the scenes”?
And can they even tell if your telling the truth at all? Not to bust your butt, but in todays world of scammers, could CCP determine if he is really stuck out there?
I can come up with more conspiracy theories, but you get the point.
Either way, your situation still sucks. Sorry your stuck out in the bush. Best of luck!
Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you know that I’ve updated the top level post with a list of frequently asked questions you’ve had about this release. If you have any other questions please keep dropping them here and I’ll try to get those answered for you as best I can.
@CCP_Aurora
I don’t see any response regarding inactive players assets currently in citadels.
This was left in citadels on the belief that asset safety was a thing and the worst case scenario was they would have to pay to get it out of asset safety.
Do CCP intend for these people to get screwed over, or will there be a system put in place to deal with inactive players.
Such as asset safety all assets of anyone that hasn’t logged in since this blog was published.
There are no such plans at this time. However, my understanding is that we are reaching out to inactive players by email to let them know this change is coming and give them a chance to log in and asset safety their things - which can be done without having to pay as alphas.
