This is the point which I wanted to make. It does not affect me … now. But what makes you think that it will not affect me in the future? I guess that’s just me who has been cutting ties with EvE here and there based on the RL circumstances. Currently, I am “active”. But it’s “disturbing” to know that you could lose your accumulated assets just because you were “offline” for couple of months. And that’s the point why I even decided to type anything here. Nothing else.
For me, this is a clear sign not to trust any owner of an Upwell structure anymore. Because they could “accidentally” forget to fuel their station during my absence. Oops. There goes my baby (/babies).
As long as we, as a player base are accepting this - I guess it’s fine? Not like we don’t know what’s written in EULA. And it’s not like we don’t know that CCP can just cut off everything without any repercussions.
Economic demand one when they return back? Is that what you’re trying to tell me? Because, otherwise, I don’t see how this matters what-so-ever. Some people will gain something for “free”. And the “ghosts” will lose. That’s all.
I thought that I was thinking bigger. But I guess that’s just me. Thinking about what else could be changed by CCP while players are absent. And how this new change could be abused. But I guess it all falls on players for trusting other players.
Thank you for the time. I like you Pedro. I like things which you do. But in some things, it just feels as if you’re short-sighted, or you’ve already prepared to abuse the mechanics for your own personal gains. Which is not bad. This is EvE, that is.
I mean, asset safety is still there. If you need to take a break, just log in one final time and activate asset safety. It will take 5 minutes and your stuff will be whisked to safety.
There seems to be general support for this change by the “player base”. I’m not sure what problem you think there is, or has widespread agreement that it exists.
“Free” is underselling it - there is some time and risk in killing these abandoned structures. This event will get people out shooting stuff, and each other, in space.
“Ghosts” won’t notice the loss. “Ghosts” aren’t paying customers. I don’t know why anyone should really care about them.
You too! Fly safe, and don’t worry about your stuff so much. There is always plenty more of it out there to get!
Popular demand isn’t a sign of a good update though. It’s a sign that most people don’t think outside their ‘tribe’ for how something works.
Of course people like the idea of shiny loot.
1 confirmed, and a whole lot of others who I see poke their heads in now and then who did play after Upwell structures were introduced who very well may have stuff, but I haven’t seen in the last 2 weeks to ask them.
However that’s irrelevant, this is not a ‘good of the many’ situation. Because the good of the many is in being able to kill the structure in a single hit, not in getting a loot pinata on patch day. The structures already get slowly picked off as they do have drops anyway which are worth a wardec, it’s just not been quite fast enough to keep up with placement.
We don’t need them to all be gone in 48 hours, it being a gradual process is perfectly fine.
So if people are harmed by the loot pinata aspect and we do a one off ‘you are inactive, have asset safety’ pass, then the update is still a success.
Yep…as a basher myself, I’d be just happy with the easier killing of the structure rather the addition of the asset-change rules. Kinda confused as to why they are doing that…
But that’s not how it was in Upwell structures anywhere else, since Upwell structures are also a replacement for outposts and intended to be superior to stations, and CCP changing that on inactive people is harmful.
I have no issues with it being that way going forward, but CCP set the standard, and people made storage decisions based off that standard. Punishing players for CCP doing a dramatic change to game mechanics is never a good decision.
A balance change of numbers is not a dramatic game mechanic change.
The Proteus is still a T3, it still uses the same weapon systems, it still has the same base roles.
Trying to pretend that this is in any way comparable to the asset safety change is a joke, and shows that you aren’t attempting to discuss in good faith here, just flex your WH Epeen.
Well if you are so against this change and are arguing it for all the players who don’t deserve this and who should lose their stuff I expect to see you counter deccing all the groups bashing these structures to protect them.
The actual mechanic of change to the personal asset drop mechanic aside, it is beyond insensitive that you would literally pick the middle of a real-life global pandemic to institute this drastic a change.
Have you considered that possibly more than a usual number of players are inactive/ or restricted from playing due to Covid-19 related financial or health reasons? Obviously you Covid-19 plex for good is just BS PR lip service for the outside world. Another stellar move by the Helmar “Lets Kill EVE” Suana Brigade and Bitter Vets axis…
Good grief…video game sales/usage has skyrocketed thanks to COVID…you’re totally backwards on this one…and I suspect that if it was done any other time you would complain that it’s also “beyond insensitive” as people have to work and are being forced to deal with something they don’t have time to do in the first place…
If you hate EVE and CCP then just ■■■■-off already…
The damage cap needs to be increased on low power and abandoned structures. At the moment deploying a capital fleet to bash a small or medium structure gives little reward as the sub cap support fleet usually hits the damage cap already.
After the initial attack you have two reinforcements timers before it goes to low power, plenty of time to organize a defense fleet.
They are easier and cheaper to build than titans, so why should they be much harder to take down?
Nope only one. Shield is free, after amor falls next day the structure is in low power and all services shut off. You essentially have one day of organizing a defense, two if you count the wardec spool up in highsec.
