Within High Security space the most active conflict is rabble from the fringe of society pulling what is essentially a infinite money glitch against those still putting in the hard work of moving stuff from A to B on a regular basis.
Silence is implicit acceptance and does nobody any good.
That is objectively wrong, as many PvP engagements are about playing an objective, not holding grid. Destroying a structure or POS. Destroying an iHub. Busting through an eviction. And so on.
Also, glad to see you back. Would you like to address any of my critiques or let them continue to stand on their own merit?
the profit of your hauling run is your ‘loot’ for a ‘victory’ aka a successful escape. If the gankers don’t catch you, they will get nothing for all their waiting time. Seems balanced to me.
it is your choice not to bring an equally professional crew to actually take the fight and bait them into engaging you, then make them fail. Would you show up with at least 7-10 ships (which still is less than they would need to ‘win’) and plan your trap correctly you could loot the Maller’s and a dozen Talos’ Wrecks which have some pretty nice guns in it. EVE is a strategical game, use strategies, you’d be surprised how well they work.
you aren’t entitled to move effortlessly from A to B anytime and anywhere you want. People have the right to interfere with your plans in a PvP game, which EVE is. You can deal with that by delaying your trip (fine choice, don’t complain) or by meeting them with force (needs cooperation, but works well).
There is, it’s the profit of your hauling run. If there is no profit attached, you should seriously reconsider your business decisions and ask yourself why you should risk a 5B ship+cargo for no gain.
I did not advocate silence, Eloken. I posited that I did not understand anger as a response to immutable change.
Of course, it is a perfectly acceptable initial response to something we dislike, but it serves us poorly in the face of immutable circumstance, where it might properly be seen - by emotionally mature persons - to be an exercise in futility (a waste of time).
If you are going to question what I’ve written, do be careful, Eloken. I am known to bring Neutron Blasters primed with Void S to every encounter - written or otherwise.
You didn’t just ‘not lose money’, you increased the value of the goods by moving them to a more useful location and thus made profit. Thats the base every transport business is founded on, ask a trucker what he is paid for.
No you did not.
If there was no ganker, you would do it the same so the interaction does not increase the gain.
Also the fact that you make money doing the activity has no relation to the fact that the ganker have a much lower ante than the freighter, related to their potential gain and his.
Yes it did. It was the reason to haul it at all. That value doesn’t need to be ISK alone, it can also be ‘efficiency value’ aka selling faster, supplying a production facility, a ‘convenience value’ aka moving stuff to a location you have easier access to it or even an ‘emotional value’ aka you simply like the stuff to be at B instead of A.
No matter what, you got value out of that trip, else you hadn’t made it. If someone just wants to fly a freighter to fly a freighter he can easily avoid all systems where gankers are active. I can recommend places where no freighter has been ganked in years.
