lost a viator landing and docking in jita on a bookmark on station. when the ship exploded my capsule went backwards to the permieter gate than forwards next to the wreck and docked. only time ive lost a blockade runner.
I should add though, depending on what you’re doing, it’s wise to leave some space in your ship’s actual cargo hold. Like if you fill a battleship with these things up, your guns wont pull ammo out of these things.
A base tank fit freighter can haul over 500k m3 of cargo, tank will depend on freighter and if going hull HP or resistance.
A base cargo will sacrifice EHP for huge cargo capacity.
Orca has nice benefits with all slots available and RIG slots, though you’d be spending heaps to increase cargo capacity, over half of that is limited to unrefined ore or ice, one big benefit is it would have the ability to have repair modules, and drone defense.
Id say its more a personal choice. Yes the freighters are slow, but what you can haul in one run takes less time than a smaller faster Orca that could take 2+ round trips to run the same load depending how its fitted.
And DST’s are great, but long runs would require multiple DST’s or DST runs to equal one freighter run, same for ORCA’s.
You need the Orca if you are going to do Mining, crafting T1 charges and ships a lot. You should spec for freighter if you are going to do industry and heavy industry (it includes hauling also). Orca is just bad at hauling general commodities no matter how many cargo extenders it will get. You’ll find difficulties even at hauling PI components.
Nope. There aren’t any legit variants between them if not take into considerations the T1/T2 industrial ships. Actually the Orca and Freighters are between Bowhead (a vessel transporter) and Jump Freighters.
