I tried all possible settings, this only postpones the crash and still no official response from CCP

Hello, I don’t know if ping CCP like that is the rules of the forum, but it’s been months that all OSX users with recent configurations can’t play otherwise when in potato mode and still crossing their fingers that the client doesn’t crash. I almost opened a 10 support tickets with always the same answer, we are aware wait for an update. It’s been months and many patches and still nothing.
All the more frustrating since the latest extensions are oriented graphics and Skins that we can’t even see.
Can you fix what’s bugged since an update in May ?
Thanks again
@CCP_Caffeine maybe ^^
Hello again,
As this issue has affected several of our Mac players the decision whether a reimbursement is applicable is left to the game developers, and it will be issued server wide and not by customer support through the ticketing system.
At least it’s already a bit of an answer of CCP ^^
I’m on an M1 Max on MacOS 15.0. I’ve had a dozen or so random crashes in the last week. Like many users here, usually when in a large fleet and panning my camera around (but not always!).
Tonight was by far the worst. First time in pochven, fleet of ~25 people, multiboxing with two chars.
First, one char disconnected on a warp (this is different from a crash, and has never happened before, super weird). Then, the other char disconnected one or two warps later.
Then they proceeded to take turns crashing straight to desktop, one, and then the other, randomly throughout the night, for a total of 6-7 times over the 2 hours of the fleet.
It was incredibly frustrating to constantly have to log back in, rejoin fleet, figure out where everyone is, catch up… over and over.
Does anyone at CCP actually play on a mac? You guys really should consider having at least some of your peeps do it full time to dogfood your builds.
May I ask, if this mac is new? And did it use to work before?
This is all speculation, but my guess is, that the M1 and M2 use an apple graphics device and not a generic Intel or NVIDIA or AMD one, so the EVE client struggles with that one.
The processor should be able to do fine, however, the graphics are the problem.
Does anyone know, if the M1 or M2 device supports M$ directX 11 or 12 or at least Vulkan?
If my guess is correct, I would also guess that ARM Snapdragon users would have similar issues, because the Adreno graphics part would struggle with the directX instruction and doesn’t know, that to do with them.
If all hardware companies would be able to focus support for one API, the world would be a better place, but the Ferengi at Redmond USA have only the Rules of Aquisition at heart.
It’s the “new” Apple Silicon architecture that they switched to away from Intel, but this was back in 2020, and my model is from 2021.
Apple silicon is running their own integrated gpu, not nvidia or amd related, and doesn’t support directx or vulkan, just metal and maybe some ancient version of opengl?
I’ve played eve on and off over the years, always on a mac, and I don’t remember it crashing before Apple Silicon.
I also don’t remember it crashing a couple years ago, on apple silicon, but I didn’t play it as intensively as I’ve been playing lately. So it’s entirely possible that this is just a recent bug and not just due to AS.
As I said before on this thread, this is after an update earlier this year. I could run 3 sessions in full quality on my M2 Pro without any issues before this update.
And CCP knows there is a problem
I have this exact issue. I have a M3 Max MacBook Pro - To avoid the game crashing I play in optimized for memory setting on display. Game no longer crashes. If I have 1 client up or all 10 of my accounts at the same time it doesn’t matter. Max settings crashes to desktop on the account with the settings turned all the way up.
I can replicate the issue 100% of the time on a busy keep star.
A few moments later… Nothing more
For what it’s worth, since I changed the shaders from High to Medium it seems the crashing has been resolved.
The other day I put the shaders back up to high and crashed within 20 mins as I flew into a large fleet and started panning around.
Will try this for a bit ^^
getting same problem. I don’t need to be in a big battle, just chilling in station at SNFV-1 give the4 game 2 minutes and it will crash 100% of the time if set to any thing else then memory optimization. I have the feeling that the game is doing some thing wrong and the OS is shutting the game down.
Mac M2 mini 24bg ram.
get lost troll
got exactly the same iss on my mac mini m4 24gb …I field a bug report …switching the shader to medium seems to help a bit but it‘s not a long term solution for me as I want to play with settings on high… a comment from ccp in here would be great… did anybody find out how to fix the issue without switching the shader to medium?
The only response I’ve got of CCP is : we know…
That was in May
did they just respond once? what was the last time they did respond on your bug reports? are they still working on the issue?
Would love a response from CCP on this, I’d really like my shaders to remain on ‘high’.
