just came here because I got exactly the same issue, when shaders are set on high and you are in front of a keepstar with a lot of players on the grid, the client will crash to desktop within seconds when you are looking at the keepstar with all the ships from a distance… I think the shader model used for the high setting is the problem…
maybe there should be an additional shader setting with ultra, and some features of the high moved over just to ultra do identify the issue… maybe also a option to disable skins and just use standard skins on ships, maybe this would also fix the issue… not sure
I do not have the issue when shaders are set to medium or if I don’t look at the keepstar with all the ships… if I look into another direction the client won’t crash with shader set to high…
I got an update from support, they said the developers are looking into the problem, but I think everybody needs to file a bug report as well to make them aware that this issue is having an impact on many players and to assure it gets the attention we need…

Unfortunately, there has been no update to GM supprort team on the Mac OS issue as yet. The development team is still looking into this. As per previous correspondence with Senior GM Chaos, they expect the fix to be announced/mentioned in future patch notes. Please keep an eye out for any news regarding this. Unfotunately, the GM support team is unable to assist with resolving this.

I can confirm I also had crashes when on medium shaders… if they know about it they should at least give a timeline on when we can expect a fix for this…
they did not close my ticket but I expect the same to happen… will create a new one with this and my other account at the time they do it… tickets will fly in until this is resolved…
I got an update from support “the development team is currently investigating the issue and is actively working towards a resolution.”
I told them to check in with the developers from time to time and give me further updates on the progress… everybody who has the issue please still file a bug report explaining it in all detail, I’m sure this will speed up things to get this fixed…
