Magic of right-click is okay for in-station compression.
But gameplay-wise I prefer something more visual.
What you say about a big shiny laser you aim at the jetcan full of ore and it begin to pump compressed resource into your hold?

People complaining about “AFK MINING” with the Orca or Miner 1 Miner 2 Miner 3 Miner 4 etc Orca mining in a belt , was it an Ice Belt or regular asteroid belt ?

Ice Belt would make sense to see those there and i don’t see any issue with it. For as long as i can remember there have always been people afk mining ice in mackinaw , orca. It’s less profitable than mining veldspar in High Sec but still a profit and afkable since the ice takes a very long time to mine…

Shouldn’t compare Oranges to Watermelon , basing the nerf on the little kids crying for injustice cause they can’t do the same is just childish at best. the ORCA nerf was not need , in fact it should of gotten a MINING BUFF, give excavator drone to the ORCA. make it the baby rorqual , make it a clear difference between it’s younger brother the Porpoise…

What you actually meant is, remove the waste probability mechanic altogether. Just keep things simple by working the yield. One can argue that Type C crystal fits a new role, fine, maybe keep that one. But other than that, waste has to go.
If the goal of CCP was overall to increase ore by 30-50-80-100%, it is easy to do without the complexity of the waste mechanic.

Someone missed the hisec ice nerf. It was scarcity v0.1 for years in hisec ice belts.

used to take 10 min / 5 min with boost to mine a single block of ice when i did some ice mining years ago, it’s still afkable seeing the size of ice belts , Orca being perfect for that since it has a huge hold

While I certainly agree, what we are seeing here is competing (and entirely opposite) views from within just the mining community.

Last week, it was T1 waste higher than T2 waste punishes the newbros, this is outrageous. Now it is T2 waste higher than T1 waste punishes T2, this is outrageous.

Last week it was rorq nerf isn’t the big problem, it’s the reduction in M3 mined that will push prices up. Now it is we will just roll new alts and mine everything T1, otherwise prices will go up.

Last week it was compression is too slow, it reduces your yield and it is outrageous. Now it is why don’t we have compression fixed, my orca is worthless, it’s outrageous.

Obviously I’m being somewhat hyperbolic here (and I’m definitely not capturing all of the contradictions) , but I really don’t see the Devs being able to win, so at some point if I were them I’d be thinking about pulling the rip cord and just implementing based on my own design rather than flipflop backseat game devs.

That was a long time ago. Before eve got depopulated into oblivion with recent bs, hisec ice belts disappeared within minutes after spawning by a force of lots of angry miners trying to keep their POS running. The process was called “ice camping” because you had to camp ice systems in hope of catching a respawning ice belt.

Well guys, I vote for the status quo. I certainly don’t see any ‘abundance’ or more ‘prosperity’ in the figures in the ‘Proposed’ column of the spreadsheet.

@CCP_Rattati thinks it’s our expectations that are the problem. If he says scarcity ended, it ended, even if meaningful changes are literally none.

My view remains empirical evidence rather than paper theory-crafting. So when the shift go onto Sisi I will mine for a bit and compare the results to tranq.

I will look to see if the tank is better, worse, or the same.

What I won’t do is make a hate/love list for you. What I will say is that a LOT of the CSM has been actively engaging CCP in regards to these changes.

Oh and that I am not running next term.

I’m fine with a nerf to the Rorq. Would obviously be happier if it wasn’t a 33% nerf, but this is better than the original plan. I also think it’s great that barges & exumers will mine more and be tankier (haven’t seen the numbers, but I’d hope they could figure out EHP values…). I don’t, at all, understand why the Orca needs to be nerfed. I have no interest in flying the ship and I don’t have one. I just don’t see any justification for nerfing it’s mining ability without a serious rework in it’s mobility and build cost. Porpoise does look like a hands down better ship right now.

Edit: I’ve said it many times, but the mining waste is bad except for Type C crystals. Those are brilliant, they rest of the changes either hurt newbros or make no sense (T1 waste means Newbros can’t mine good stuff, T2 waste means it takes longer to mine good stuff). Waste also means mining corps need someone to review the ledger and make the case that “character X” wasted Y Isk worth of ore and needs to be awoxed / kicked / warned / fined. Do we really need this in the game? Does that sound fun to anyone?

After playing with compression with normal ORE, on Test server - 1.) why remove the ability to drag charges, boosters to the command modules ? 2.) All ORE types need to be compressed from and to their respective ORE HOLD’s EG- ICE from the ICE Hold and compressed to the ICE Hold, the cargo bay is not for compressing any types of ORE unless dragged from the or the Fleet Hold but will be compressed to the respective HOLD as stated above. Also the cycle times need to be reduced by at to 50% if not to 25% of what it is currently 120 secs for T1 default which need to be 30-60 secs default and T2 being 180 secs default need to be 45-90 secs to be because otherwise the orca will be overwhelmed during Fleet mining ops.

I don’t afk mine either. I was using it every now and then for maybe hour or two, mining moon ore, giving free boosts, generous buyback to new players, and doing other stuff in game like industry, trading, project discovery (which we saw how foolproof it actually is for botting).

It sucked that I was mining same amount as mining barge (without boosts) and it all came to life expectancy of mining barges and exhumers in high sec, although I’ve never lost one cause I’m aware of my surrounding.

But it’s a little underwhelming to see 2b ISK ship and millions of SP invested made obsolete just like that, cause realistically now you only need one in the field.

And what bothers me is everyone seem to assume a lot of things especially how other people are doing things in this game especially the ones that never done it themselves.

As would one of the CSM members say “industry is very easy to do you know. Just right click the blueprint, put in the job, receive your item kind of thing”.
