Thank you for listening to us. Really like the changes.
Please leave R4 as is. HS moon mining will be useless without it.
Please look at Orca core runtime. Perhaps in the 2 min to 2.25 min is long enough. Perhaps there is a skill or module to lower the time. Or increase use of heavy water for faster times.
Again, please look at Mineral Anoms in NS. No one is mining them today (except Merc and the single crokite rock). I would strongly look at putting the anons back to 2018 sizes (full anons). No one is going to risk their big ships in today’s useless anon. Without the big ships in the anoms, there will be less conflict happening. Why even have a mining index? If no one is mining the anoms, what use is it?
You are simply the best game developers in the world! It’s a great idea to kill Orca and Rorqual! Yes, of course you are right, such ships should be useless for the player who bought them! Bravo! Can they just be removed from the game and not torment people?
Well, if you decide to reduce the efficiency of Rorqual, then maybe you will give her the opportunity to dig ore in systems with a high level of security? The cost of the ship is too high to risk it for the sake of reduced income in dangerous systems!!!???
Finally read a bunch of the comments. Thanks all for doing the math on the waste and Orca changes.
Based on what I read, let the mining foreman boosts reduce waste and put back waste in T1 modules. If that solo miner joins a mining grp they will mine faster and get less to zero waste. This means, orcas will be fielded because if you have an orca on field, you’re going to reduce waste plus increase yield.
If CCP really gives ships individual holds, could they please make it so that we can click the Cargohold icon in the HUD to access them like the dscan/probe scanner windows – and not via right clicking the capacitor and then fiddle with even more option in this already humongous right click menu?
Ok, just found this thread regarding new changes. My initial thoughts…slightly better I guess but still like my orca…so yer lol
Sooo… if we want to use mining drones, we must use T1 not to get waste? OK…??? And you still need to go T1 or faction for modules for no wastage…ok so nobody gonna use crystals. Cool.
If I still wanted to do serious mining in the orca, the cycle time and fuel spent on the core module would have to come down to say 1 min cycle = 100 heavy water. Current values are too much, considering we have to use T1 drones so we dont get waste.
Thought about retraining a few of my orca toons back into exhumers, but even with these changes, I still dont think it is worth the time and effort, esp if CCP is still thinking of removing pyr and mex from moons, would make hisec mining even more useless. Maybe if CCP offered SP refunds on orca and drone related skills, but idk, I dont think it will ever be enough.
I knew the orca nerfs were coming, I was right that I thought they mite add a special module or something, but I was really only hoping for no more then a 40ish% nerf on yield. If that was the case, i’d still be fine with it and continue playing however its not.
For a ship I’ve spent a lot of time and investment into training to be basically useless after these changes, is really dishearten me to train for anything else, considering its could be gutted in a single patch. There was nothing wrong with the orca imo, 1.8bil ship, took over 12 months training to get the yield of a T1 barge…yet probably only got changed because CCP listened to a ganker complaining he couldn’t kill it with his 5 alts…zzz
You are assuming that people will care about waste, that will only happen with someone in null finding a very profitable and uncontested ore, everyone else will be using T2 strip miners with Type B crystals
There’s nothing for a rorqual to mine in highsec, though. Rorqual happy crab usage is to assign an excavator on each super-sized spodumain rock, and then go to sleep. With Rock sizes nerfed, the Rorqual can’t provide any additional income over an orca any more, as the orca would also have finished off all rocks that were assigned to it’s drones before you stand up the next day, too, so the Rorqual needs to be placed on 6-week R64/R32 pulls instead.
The only advantage a solo Rorqual has over a solo Orca is that the Rorqual price contains the response fleet to save it, so if someone sees and reports the Rorqual getting ganked while it’s operator is asleep, the aliance will form to defense it, while for an Orca they’ll say “serves it well”.
If you would go to crab in highsec on some 6-week moon pull (which is super-dangerous as it risks a random incursion to spawn in the system, which prohibits mining for a few days and thereby strips all income from the athenor for 6 weeks), the trolls would either bump away the excavators and steal them, or bring their buddies and their mining alts to remove the rocks the rorquals’ drones were on. When you stand up the next morning, the rorqual is basically empty as the trolls mined the rocks your drones were assigned on an order of magnitude faster then you.
Not to mention wardecs on corps that have rorquals would push the rorquals back into low quickly.
maybe…and for ore I can see your argument, even still though if you want ALL the ore in that belt, why would anyone want wastage?..make no sense and if you mining 20-30% of the time getting nothing…I seriously see no point in mining.
And then you got ice. You not going to sit there in a your hulk with 30 sec cycles or your orca with 2 min cycles and risk wastage. Again makes zero sense.
Then again…like you said, if people want to sit in belts and mine nothing for 30% of the time while they are there…sure. Wont be me though.
Alt C only opens the cargohold and nothing else. You then have to expand the left side menu and then the ship (if not expanded already) to access the other holds, but that opens them in the same window, which means you have to switch between the holds and can’t access them simultaneously. This is nothing I want to use because the sidemenu takes away more space than my cargohold window is wide.
The side menu is rubbish, a huge waste of space without good functionality, and its only point is the reset of the cargohold when CCP’s contract system dies again and doesn’t allow you to accept courier contracts for some reason.
More sane people have these holds open in separate windows or tabs, which allows you to access and use them simultaneously. To open them, you either have to use short cuts or right click the capacitor. The HUD has a cargohold icon and it should be used to open the individual holds because that’s logical. Right clicking your capacitor to access the holds of your ship is not logical.
The mining index more or less represents how many moon-drill fit Refineries are in the system, unless it has ice.
I’d rather like to see those anomalies be removed completely, belts to return, and mining signatures to replace the anomalities (including in wh-space). Make signature rocks be completely random in size and composition, and be closer together, allowing for both a single boosting ship to cover the whole mining grid with it’s foreman, and a single HIC to lock down everything.
you are miss understanding the wastage mechanic. its a 30% chance to waste the same amount you mined. if the laser says you will mine 500 units you will receive 500 units in your ore hold and the rock will loss 1000 units. so if the rock has 2000 units in it you would get 500. 500 goes to waste and the rock will have 1000 units left. you will always get material from the laser with one exception. if the rock has 750 units left then you get 250 unites and 500 goes to waste. waste is removed from the rock first.
They need to get rid of Skill Injectors, remove them from the game, they are a total waste.
I started playing in Feb 2006 and skilled and skilled and waited and waited, then the Skill Injectors where introduced. So all those years, I had to wait a long time for skills to complete some 4 weeks long.
And I only bought 1 skill injector and that was they first came into existence, and what a waste of ISK.
Aye Skill Injectors need to GO AWAY… yup yup yup yup…
yes, it means that if you are the only one mining you’ll end up with more using those.
otherwise you’ll be sharing the loss with others
if you use a wasteful crystal and have to leave before the belt is depleted you only removed ore from the others (but mined faster yourself)
In all this all sources are doubled, so even burning 30% away everyone will still end up with more stuff than now
But we are talking that compressed mineral does not occupy anything, you can do that in a large mining fleet (speaking of large corporations), for small ones it is impossible and it is even more impossible alone, in mineral de luna if it is possible because not yet It can be compressed, but even if it can be compressed, it would be just as impossible to fill 300k of ore, they are nerfing the rorqual by solo mining, and it is impossible to fill that with compressed mining alone (at least in one afternoon).
Besides that we are talking about that it is not profitable at all to do so, the core forces you to be anchored to the ground for 5 min, any medium fleet that does not even reach 2B in value can destroy you.
they want to make mining an impossible medium.
If you need isk, then you go, you get on a Carrier, you do 4 Combat in null and you already have 150M, without the risk of the “industrial core”, and you are not anchored to anything, and even if you lose the ship, we are talking about an average of 3.5 B - 4B, with the rorqual you have a double-sided ship and to be able to get that amount of ISK you have to spend a lot of time in the air and put much more at risk
