I really hope this event is not a template for what is coming with the other three empires
Empire standing is so important in that most of the event tracks are unplayable if you have a negative standing or -ve sec status
This entire event seems to be designed to maximize your chance of being PvP killed while trying to do the event track. Campaign trail goes to specific low sec sites and thru syndicate sov null sec space. Turn in sites for favours are set locations in high sec perfect for ganking and favours are physical items which can drop when ganked.
This is the most boring grind event I have encountered in my two and a half years of playing and is mind numbing.
I agree that the event is quite boring, but calling it dangerous is silly. When I did campaign trail on my alts I came across dozens of shuttles moving between objectives, but not once anyone in a ship capable of shooting me. If the shuttle doesnāt appeal to you just do the route in a travelceptor.
Have you not been playing EVE during Grand Prix events? Itās copy-paste of those. Even some of the waypoints are the same. So, this is nothing unforeseen.
You also donāt have to go through Syndicate. Thatās a lie. And Syndicate is not sov null, itās NPC null.
Nobody in their right mind would do this with a negative sec status. There is a very easy and obvious way around that, that itās not worth complaining about.
I could be wrong here, but I feel what Opās intent is, not so much about the PvP but the fact that a lot of the aspects of the event are somewhat cut off from certain players.
for instance:
The scordite mining event. This is basically gone by 1700 evetime. The only avenue is to do security missions that have Scordite in them as filler. There is still a path for progression. but its Gneiss, which is not in highsec(please correct me if i am wrong here)
The Home Fronts event: Before the Election event. Home fronts were already in steady and strong competition among other actual groups of players as well as your multi boxers and Botters. With the event now on going, the competition in Gal space is through the roof.
The Faction Warfare event: This is cut off from all the other chars that have been activly running security missions against Gallente and militias who have been active against Gallente. Just today I ran a FW group and 2 of the members could not participate as their standings were too low with Gallente.
This will not last. As people complete the event, there will be less mining the ore. We are only a week in, and already the time that the ore is available has been increasing. I do agree that perhaps there should have been some variety between mission steps, however we are dealing with what we have been given for this event at least.
Luckily we donāt need to complete all the tracks. I would argue that if this is a framework for military campaigns, that this really isnāt an issue as making a choice of who to support is part of the game.
As for Homefronts, I agree that having everyone funneled into just Gal HS is overloading what can be completed, although my group has had success in doing the less popular homefronts. Once multiple empires have things going at once though, people will spread out (and hopefully not just go back to Caldari Space).
Except, Eve is not a PvP game. Itās a game with PvP⦠difference. For example, asset management is a much bigger component of the game than PvP could ever be, which makes it closer to being a warehouse and logistics simulator than a PvP game.
And yeah⦠it wouldnāt hurt them to be a little more creative with the content and step out of the ātry to gank/try to avoid being gankedā as a primary design decision. Just for the sake of variety.
Well thatās the result of the decisions you have made, it has nothing to do with the event and CCP, and those decisions have pushed you out of high sec. I donāt complain when the game keeps adding features that benefit only those who like to linger in low and null sec which is out of reach for me because I have chosen to play in high sec and thus my standings, ships, fits, etc are suited to the high sec gameplay!
It is a PvP game, even when someone is not actively shooting at other playerās ship, they still get engaged in PvP activity such as trading, mining in the same asteroid belt, completing a complex etc, getting penalized for looting someoneās cargo but at the same time being able to salvage their ship wreck before anyone else does. On top of that a bigger potion of the skills have a PvP focus it doesnāt matter if they are directly involved with blowing ships up or provide you with benefits to manufacturing and trading, they are still PvP skills as they give you an edge over the other players! Even when you manage you assets you are doing it so you can compete better with other players.
I actually enjoyed running the Campaign Trail for Soraya Roden, gave me a reason to use my racing ship āRegattaā⦠The only other time I actually used that ship was years ago for the Gallente Grand Prix eventā¦
I did the shortest route through Low and Null Sec space⦠Saw a lot of shuttles running the Campaign Trail as well and to be quite honest, I hardly saw any other ships camping out looking to catch ships on the route⦠Granted that actually depends on what time you run the route⦠However I did see a lot of wrecks and corpses on one gate, also saw about 2 dozen Drones sitting on another gate⦠Other than that, the Campaign Trail route was pretty much uneventfulā¦
And to top it all off, I was actually prepared to give somebody a nice Killmail report if they managed to catch meā¦
The only thing I thought was bad programming - having the Gallente Presidential Campaign Trail go into other Factions space⦠Purely from a Role Play aspect, that part doesnāt make any sense at allā¦
Other than that, I very much enjoyed running Soraya Rodenās Presidential Campaign Trailā¦
Even when you warp in a room that no one else can access, you are in that room to look for items that you want to sell on the trade market where you are going to compete with against other players, so in that broad sense it is still a PvP game even that you donāt get involved in any direct combat activities against another player, the game is not set up to allow us to sell our items at a fix price to an NPC, thus avoiding ANY possible interaction with another player.
You can actually do this. Some NPC stations will have sell orders of things like soil, and some will have buy orders. So you could fly a freighter between NPC stations buying and selling to NPC orders, and make ISK. Itās just not worthwhile.
Buy-sell interaction is a mutually beneficial exchange. Itās symbiotic, rather than āPVPā. PVP in the market sense occurs between traders, not between a trader (sell order) and a buyer, or seller and a trader (buy order). It can also occur between buyers, when several parties want to buy the same item that is limited in supply.
Interaction with other players is imbued in every aspect of this game, absolutely. But not every interaction is āPVPā in nature.
