alright, so here’s a really weird issue.
Eve Online will not run by itself, if i start the game with nothing else running in the background or simultaneously it will crash giving me the exit code 3221225477 signal -1, but if I have another game up, in this case Eve Frontier, it will continue to run and be playable with no issues.
However, the minute i close Frontier… online will crash. Does anyone have any insight into this?
I have tried this with multiple different games and Online will run no issues, but the minute it’s the sole game being played… straight to desktop
That suggests that the other game is running a component that EVE also needs…but which you have lost from the EVE install. So I’d re-install EVE.
i’ve tried reinstalling multiple times, still same issue
i9 13th gen, i think i found the issue though, i let the launcher/.exe file through windows security firewall and haven’t had an issue since… will update later to see if that fixed it
Those, and the 14th gen as well, can/will cause problems where they eat themselves up resulting in “weird issues” like… you’re having. Not saying that this is the (root) cause but it’s certainly worth looking in to.
The remedy for this is to have a recent and manually updated BIOS that stops them from destroying themselves but there is one thing that’s VERY important: that CPU must NEVER have ran on older non-updated BIOS, because it will have degraded by doing so. If you are in this situation contact your supplier/seller, explain the issue, and have it replaced. This is a (very well) known issue so you shouldn’t have any issues, if you do run into issues contact Intel themselves. And before you put in the new cpu, update the BIOS.
Even if you think it won’t be the problem, or it’s too much hassle, know that it’ll only get worse unless you replace and fix it.
yeah, it’s probably the root cause, i did have issues a while back due to degradation, haven’t replaced it. bios has already been updated i’ll look at a new cpu because i’m pretty sure mine might be out of warranty at this point.
Given that they know about this issue, very publicly so, they’re quit lenient about it. They mentioned extending warranties on affected CPUs for that reason.
