This thread has gotten so out of hand with the lack of understanding and misinformation. I find myself actually feeling sorry for a lot of you here.

I feel sorry for myself because I have some kind of strange need to try to take care of you and educate as if I’m your legal guardian and you can hardly think or function by yourself.

Rough draft for mechanic implementation of a hard-cap on bumping to prevent warp:

  • A 25min timer begins on a bumped ship, upon the first instance of a ship moving at faster velocity than itself is, colliding with it, with sufficient force to disrupt its aligning.

  • If during that timer, the ship with the timer manages to successfully engage warp, the timer is removed.

  • If the ship is pointed, the timer is stopped for as long as the ship remains pointed, and continues counting when point is removed.

  • If the timer counts down from 25mins to 0, and the ship is not pointed (or present in a bubble) the ship will instantly enter warp.

  • If the ship with the bump timer initiates a new warp command to a new destination, the timer is removed.

  • If the ship disengages warp process to its destination, the timer is removed.

Yep. I’ve never bumped anything except into an asteroid. So putting the limits of bumping to the test and nothing better to do in the interest of bump-science seems like fun! :slight_smile:

Do you think you could also break down why so many players seem to suffer from some kind of victim complex where they are seemingly unable to think through a series of predictable events and work to change the projected outcome?

It would be better if you could tell us from experience since you want to spearhead this little thing.

You have still failed to present any shred of information on why this is a problem mechanic that needs CCPs attention.

Pure AFK so far haven’t managed.

BUT targeting in the overview and using a close orbit and hotkeys, Q (approach) / W (orbit) I can effortlessly keep an Orca out of warp. Hit W as soon as you impact then hit Q again to approach and the speed reset is eliminated so you get the bump. Rinse repeat. Orbit also helps prevent you coming in from behind which with impact will not knock them off alignment.

It’s no harder than hitting d-scan to do it for prolonged periods. I haven’t even practised much…

This is Miniluvs suggested duration, and one many have agreed with.

As has repeatedly been stated and shown, CCP had a team assigned to this issue before lay offs.

+1 for testing. You’ll find out pure AFK bumping is just not viable at all, even for a short period of time, let alone a mythical 5 hours.

The document that was linked discussed that IF a timer were implemented that 25-minutes was “alright”. You skipped all the valid and important points as to why a bump timernis unnecessary and instead have chosen to focus on a number listed to further support your with Hunt. So why do you feel inclined to ask me if all the validation you seem to want or need comes from a 2-year old Google Doc?

How can you be sure what CCPs view of bumpingnis right now? So the team responsible for it was dissolved, but is there a reason why it hasn’t been picked right back up?
