No you didn’t. How many new players that are ganked in a Venture, then leave the game as a result of that?
If that question can’t be answered, then how can you know it’s significant?
What I posted is the number of Venture kills each month so far this year. That isn’t the basis for claiming Venture ganking is a significant problem. More data is needed, hence the previous question of do you have any - the answer seems to be no.
Long story short, the main reason that most new players quit in the first week is because EVE is simply too difficult for them and requires too much of a time investment. They fire up EVE, skip the tutorial, go straight to begging for help, then quit after they can’t figure it out or when they see that the skills they need for the ships they want to fly are going to take weeks or months to train. EVE isn’t for everyone. It’s a niche game. Always has been, always will be. Even at it’s height, EVE has never had the player base that other titles like WoW have…
I tried to verify but I cant atm so you’re right on that, I apologize I thought it was a longer time ago. Perhaps about the venture too, its been too long.
however the rest of your post is again a mischaracterization.
Out of the blue rage-pinged me on the forums to declare me “wrong”
IIf replying to posts is rage pinging arent you also always rage pinging?
Double-downed on it.
Double downed on what? You mischaracterizing people? You Misleading statements? Both of those are still true.
Triple-downed on it.
See above answer.
Say things like the above that reflects that, while you ask everyone else “doesn’t anyone else read?” clearly shows you’re not putting in your half of the reading comprehension.
I said this because accurately people werent reading what I had already wrote.
So congradulations you did what I told you to do, im proud of you, you presented actual evidence.
You are still the toxic one here and as per what I said earlier, I reply only in kind.
Time investment yes, boy if I had nickle for everytime I pitched eve to my wife and she gave me that answer. But if people are skipping the tutorial it seems like they arent really trying to get into it in the first place?
Being Niche doesnt mean you dont try to expand your playerbase, if anything it means you try harder as survival depends on staying ahead of the line of no return.
It’s not just Gen Z, Millennials are just as guilty. They are also not the only factors. As I stated earlier, there are literally thousands of other games out there for them to play now. Games that are much easier than EVE. You want to have walking in stations, and play dress-up with your characters? There are plenty of other games out there that cater to that. You want to farm infinite resources with zero risk? Again, there are plenty of other games out there that cater to that. Go play them…
Making their early life easier isnt making the game into that though. its just giving them more of a chance to acclimate. But this is irrelevant I suppose as I got my timeline on ccp data provided wrong and ganking providing more retention was less in the past than I thought I remembered.
That’s the thing though. Most of them don’t want to acclimate and refuse to use the myriad of tools given to them right off the bat to help them start out. For example, you can get 50 million ISK and access to L3 missions on a day 1 Alpha. I try to teach new players how to do this and all I get are responses such as, “That’s boring”, “That’s stupid, I’m not gonna do that”. Well, then suffer and beg for help you little ■■■■. You can’t help people that won’t help themselves…
But it is? maybe not by you or even the same person day after day but it is happening more frequently than you are eluding to.
This just isnt true (I dont mean the fun for you part.) and is just a way of dehumanizing your targets really
.
Yeah no, it is a significant number. I do take my loses and I do admit to them, see the other posts. But that was not one of them. Please dont project yourself onto me.
A Venture warps in 3 seconds or less, and all it takes is for you to pay attention. It’s that simple. Orbit the asteroid that you are mining at 10km with an AB or MWD so they can’t just warp in directly on top of you. A little situational awareness goes a long way…
If a ganker with a scout thats not in anyway aggressive or showing red or anything of the like is even a tiny bit close, a catalyst can be warped in faster than reaction time to the catalyst ( as in I mean from the time of the catalyst landing you’re already dead cause they wouldnt have even known danger was near). Ventures are made of paper.
Again, easily solved by simply paying attention. Set known ganker groups to bad standing, and as soon as one of them pops up in local, immediately warp out. Of course you’re going to get shanked if you are AFK, which I’m fairly confident that most players who lose Ventures are…
Alot of the ganker alts arent known especially to newer players. Awareness only helps so much till you can get a tankier mining ship. Even if they are orbiting they can still get landed on. I got nothing for the AFK bit thats on them and I respect that stance for that.
Perhaps I’m a bit biased. You might even say jaded. I’ve only ever lost 3 ships to gankers. 3 ship losses in 17 years, and each one of those losses was 100% my fault. I didn’t quit, I didn’t whine, I learned…
I personally very much enjoyed getting my orca hot dropped by two nyxes. Clever bastards spun up a new character with no history and put the nyxes in a hard to get to but brilliant spot to get to the system. Low sec is bonkers.
Wait a minute, thats not the video or data! The 2019 one was going over dying in fleets and how that helps. The ganking numbers one is the 2015 one. I knew I remembered it being older.
My guy. It’s a vidya game. And it is true. Venture got +2 core str and if you mining away from the drop in., you’ll be fine. Assuming you’re at keyboard
No you don’t bro
Ain’t no one wasting a whole “scout” on a venture ROFL.
Wut. D-scan bro and mining away from the drop in. It ain’t hard. Do you even play EVE or
This.
Huh. I wonder if there is a website somewhere that tracks kills and losses and such. And maybe I could find it and somehow use that info to inform myself. And if there was some kind of thing to find it? Like a search engine? Only imagine if this was possible.
This line makes no sense to me. Do you know what the chances of you catching me when I’m in a venture are? In hi and low sec it’s functionally 0. In null or a WH maybe you can get lucky and grab me with a bubble. Anywhere else there is no way. That ship is so slippery it’s ridiculous. Maybe people who are so concerned about new players could spend more of their time actually explaining game mechanics to those players so they can see how powerful they can actually be rather than just constantly wringing their hands on the forums.
