You attack everything I say, so try taking your own advice.
I don’t attack you, I criticize what you write, big difference.
LOL
Keep trying to convince yourself that you’re the good guy and I’m the bad guy here.
What exactly did I “attack”?
You (and everyone else) know very well who you have been attacking. Now, can we please get back on the topic of this thread?
Ganking is a valid form of play, as stated multiple times by CCP. Can it be improved? Of course it can. Should it be removed? not without NPCs getting a lot more dangerous and less avoidable. Both options would require a lot of work to implement.
I think CCP’s intended goal is to have players act as the ‘monsters’ seen in traditional games, and so the removal of ganking would undermine the core concept of EvE Online. Like, gankers are supposed to be hunting miners. It doesn’t mean we are bad people in real-life, or that we deserve years of abuse, it just means we are people playing the game. This is precisely why security tags exist, because they are intended to facilitate ganking.
Very true, after all, time and time again. CCP shows capsuleers in the lore as monsters, and players follow suit, not just those who gank.
Haha, James you flatter me!

There is a clear difference between attacking a person and criticizing arguments.
If I quote something you wrote and point out inconsistency, that is criticism of content.
If I were making claims about you as a person, that would be an attack.
You may not like the conclusions I draw from your posts, but disagreement or pointing out hypocrisy is not personal aggression. It is engagement with your stated position.
If there is something specific I said that you believe crossed into personal attack, quote it. Otherwise, let’s keep this about the arguments themselves.
Ganking is NOT valid gameplay. There’s no counterplay. End of discussion.
I think we’re going off the track here with the ‘monster’ comparison/analogy. Ganking is just a specialized form of PVP adapted to high sec. In any other part of space same thing happens (blobbing, hot dropping, gate camping, whatever) and they’re all legitimate. Everyone in EVE minimizes their risk and maximizes their gain. That’s why solo PVP and ‘fair fights’ are pretty rare in this game.
As for the ‘monster’ part – it’s not that. CCP hasn’t put a filter on human nature, and those who wanna be more naughty or mischievous or outright ‘bad guys’ can act it out, just as in real life. You’re free to be whatever you wanna be. I’m pretty sure a lot of ‘gankers’ enjoy the ‘bad guy’ image in the game. Nothing wrong with that.
The whole question of legitimacy/validity is absurd as this is a free sandbox game. Be what you wanna be, do what you wanna do.
I’m just glad ganking is valid gameplay, with lots of viable counterplay.
Let’s continue the discussion!
For the record, we are not calling players monsters, just our capsuleers. Gameplay is just gameplay, but in the lore, all pvp activities are causing a massive loss of life with crews, and even more so with structures. Heck, even something as innocuous as PI, is causing a massive loss of life as shown in: https://universe.eveonline.com/chronicles/xenocracy We (our capsuleers in game) are not as innocent as some like to think in the game.
In that sense as well, then, there is no difference between different forms of PVP. They all cause loss of life.
I gotta check out that lore though.
You men are clearly delusional.
There is no couterplay, therefore, it is not valid gameplay.
Simple.
there is counter play… escape, use a heavy tank, use dscan and escape. and its been deemed NOT an exploit, you can pull concord to be on the ready..
The biggest problem i see is not about ganking itself, its about the definition. You can kill anyone everywhere. While Lowsec just gives you a hit on security status, Null and JSpace don’t have any negative things hitting you (besides some corp is really peed about it). Only in Highsec you get instant revenge by Concord.
But in the end you (the victim) have to prepare the same way everywhere no matter what and living in JSpace myself, i don’t have the intel a local chat gives me.
I made a list of counterplay options:
-
pay the gankers to gank someone else (it works!)
-
you go elsewhere
-
dock up
-
fit your ship (try armor, shield, DCU, bulkheads, and rigs)
-
warp away (try aligning, using bookmarks)
-
use an afterburner/MWD
-
drones (lots of options)
-
ecm - these are literal ‘countermeasures’
-
boosts/reps
-
logi
-
bait
-
smartbombs
-
stationcamp the gankers
-
gatecamp the gankers
-
wardec the gankers (we all own structures somewhere)
-
beg
-
whine in the forums
-
gank the gankers - for example, Novus Ordo mines in Silen, Abudban, and Finanar - if they can gank your miner, you can gank their miner
-
cloaky loki
-
hunt their suspect looter
-
kill their scouts
-
steal their loot
-
shoot their decloak fighters
-
warp core stabilizer
-
join a fleet
-
dont go AFK
-
scam the gankers
-
don’t be a miner
-
overheat
-
warn other miners
-
try scouting
-
use an alt
-
phone a friend
-
be cool and get adopted as a ganker’s pet
-
learn to bump
-
try cloaking
-
dont be greedy
-
buy a mining permit/mining rights/multipass
-
pay rent
-
get good
-
be more like Aiko Danuja
-
praise me (and please me)
-
dont be obnoxious
you are wrong sir…
“suicide ganking” in HS is simply pure piracy, true piracy…and Piracy is a form of gameplay in EvE.
if you do not like that, no one can help you not even CCP and you should go play something else.
ya know…
that entire list can be boiled down to:
1.) Do not be stupid
People arguing that ganking is a ‘problem’ in EVE….its a bit like arguing that sand bunkers are a ‘problem’ in golf and are somehow not supposed to be there.
And just to prove it can be done….and solo too…
