Garoun and Morthane: Hegemony, Rivalry, and the Federal-State Relationship

Okay, okay, I see what’s happening here
You’re face to face with greatness, and it’s strange
You don’t even know how you feel
It’s adorable!
Well, it’s nice to see that Caldari never change

Open your eyes, let’s begin
Yes, it’s really us, The Federation: breathe it in!

I know it’s a lot: the style, our bods!
When you’re staring at a Gallentean demi-god

What can I say except you’re welcome!
For the tech, the drives, that let you reach the sky
Hey, it’s okay, it’s okay
You’re welcome!
I’m just an ordinary Gallentean demi-guy

Hey!
Who had civilization, culture, and came from the sky
When you couldn’t get off the ground yay high?
Us guys!

When the nights got cold
Who stole geothermal fire from down below?
You’re lookin’ at them, yo

Oh, also we tamed the light from the sun
You’re welcome!
To warm your days and bring you fun

Also we harnessed the breeze
You’re welcome!
To give you power so you wouldn’t freeze

So what can I say except you’re welcome
For teaching you killing each other isn’t the way to be
There’s no need to say, it’s okay
You’re welcome!
Ha, I guess it’s just our way of being me
You’re welcome!
You’re welcome

Well, come to think of it
Kid, honestly I can go on and on
We learned how to tame every natural phenomenon
The warp, the gates, the stars around
That was the Federation just settling new ground

We have fashion
We have couture
Now you’ve got all those suits you’re wearing!
What’s the lesson
What is the take-away
Don’t mess with Federation when it’s on a break-away

And the tapestry of stars where we’ve been
Is a map of all the victories we win
Look where we’ve been
We make everything happen
Look at that Diana Kim still just yippity-yappin’

yappin’

yappin’

yappin’

Hey!

Well, anyway let me say you’re welcome
For the wonderful State you know
Hey, it’s okay, it’s okay
You’re welcome!
Well, come to think of it, I gotta go

Hey, it’s your day to say you’re welcome
'Cause there’s nothing more that needs to be wrote
I’m bouncing out, away, away
You’re welcome!
'Cause Rafal can do anything but gloat!

You’re welcome!
You’re welcome!

And thank you!

While I have my own narrative, and I have displayed it in here, I wasn’t standing in its defense, instead, I was standing in defense of facts, of events that happened disregarding of what we think about them. What is right and what is wrong changes from culture to culture, it even changes in time inside one culture, and I don’t think there will ever be time when the whole cluster will ever agree unequivocally that something will be right and wrong (unless of course Sansha will win - but I am pretty sure that will never happen and we will deliver him his butt on the platter). There are as many opinions as there are people.

But the facts - they don’t care what we think about them. They just exist. And we, Caldari, are developing practise to look at the world phenomena as they are without any subjective interpretations.

Props for the song, Raf.

Your narrative is not in question, the narrative of someone groping from darkness vs a more established one is.

I’m married to a proud Gallentean man and I’m really glad he’s nothing like you.

And still, I don’t think that the time was wasted in vain, because our little clash way better depicts what happens in the Federal-State relationships than this opus.

He brings his point of view. I bring mine together with pointing on historical inaccuracy in his words. Maker, I don’t even doubt his opinion, accepting it as gallente point of view on the conflict and understanding that position.

What do I get in reply? Squals like from a piggie in a butchery. Well, I am not apologizing for having opinion and for knowing facts better than the O.P. Moreover, with all his squealing he didn’t address any of my points and started silly attacking my person, making up even straightforward lies about me.

I witness such gallente behavior not for the first time, and it only streightens my opinion that I have developed about Gallenteans. I have used already for them starting to scream and insult opposite party just because they bring position they can’t deal with.

And yes, I’ve used to gallentes starting just to scream and yell… though that’s the first time I see them starting to sing just not to listen to truth. I guess I should be grateful he didn’t start to dance butt-naked for us instead - I definitely could expect that from him now, taking into consideration gallentean lack of morals. And even without mentioning how vulgar and untalented that song is, it is cringeworthy by itself the fact he brings the… SONG… to the argument. I really don’t know, should I laugh or cry witnessing such embarrassment of a human figure.

We bring facts, we bring objections… and gallentes just close their ears, yell at us and sing stupid songs, not wanting to hear anything besides their own propaganda.

This is the main problem in our relations, and this is why we still can’t find common language.

I will speak for myself and for many other Caldari, who are frustrated by these gallente antics: we are ready to hear, we are ready to discuss. But it won’t go anywhere while gallentes want to hear only themselves.

I don’t know Diana, I think your message might reach people more easily if it came in lyrical form. Why don’t you have a go? If there’s one thing capsuleers love it’s a bit of novelty.

The Sotiyo-Urbaata Drive, from which most modern warp drives are derived from, was invented by Caldari engineers before the Federation was founded. Gates also predate the Federation.

And if we’re shitposting here (I assume your post is a shitpost), considering the Seyllin Incident, I wouldn’t say stars have been “tamed”.

The rest is also pretty inaccurate, which is why I assume it’s a shitpost. Further, hyphenating a word doesn’t mean you can rhyme it with itself. That’s just lazy songwriting.

I am Caldari Officer, not a songwriter. I value my reputation and I am not going to embarass myself by such profane behavior like this gallentean.
Neither I am interested in reaching such grade of public that fails to comprehend concept without lyrics.

It’s true, Miss Kim did not command enough of my attention or interest to warrant the effort put into proper songwriting.

Good songwriting should be done for the sake of the art.

You didn’t even try to rhyme.

Thread started off in curious tones,
Picking over history’s bones,
Soon filled up with Caldari moans,
And predictable Federal drones,
Ignoring all of history’s lessons,
So I say: Suck my lemons. :lemon:

On a more serious note:

While I may have opened this thread premised on the hopes that some sort of dialogue or discussion with Caldari, I can realize now it was a wasted effort. I confess, a moment of naivety and misplaced optimism on my part, when the truth is that the vast majority of those in the Caldari State are no different to those like Diana Kim: animated by the requirements of hatred and anger, they will seek any and every excuse to justify violence against the Federation and its citizen in order to realize their ambitions of “blood and soil” and establish their idea of Caldari “living space” in Luminaire.

In addition, as recent history has shown, the Caldari State now exists as nothing more than the willing proxies of the Amarr Empire – why talk with the pawns when the Empress controls their boards? Whether it was Tibus Heth crawling on his knees to the Throne of the Empire with his pauper’s cap in hand to get CAESA funding; or more recently with Catiz I pulling the strings at Lai Dai to lift trade embargoes, the Empress need only toss a few Imperial shekels on the floor to get the Caldari scrambling upon their bellies to do the Empire’s bidding and be its complicit shills.

The Caldari might be barking dogs like Diana Kim, but in the end it’s the Empress Catiz I who holds their collective leash at present. I do not think there is much point seeking discussion with a nation on matters of peace or compromise when they do not even have the independence to decide their own fates.
