Ideally, even if slowly, I’d like the company stop releasing new ‘content’ in the form of limited time spatial phenomena. Maybe it’s time for a new skill category? Even if such a tree is small, something like ‘visual processing’ which unlocks optional HUD elements would be neat. Maybe start working on beyond titans. We already see videos where hundreds of them are fighting. I know they were meant to be a joke at first, but the game’s natural progression stops there for many players. What if they revamped trade pvp? get everyone to have a steak in it, and not just those participating. You get the gist. Stuff that’s innovative, new, and isn’t some copy-pasta of a previous update.
Man, I should buy your pitchfork off you, it seems to be really good at shoveling straw. You could make a good fortune off that. Put all the farm equipment salesmen out of business. Who needs a John Deere tractor, when they have your dutiful work at their hand?
It really would be nice to be able to “use” what’s left of the sandbox to create content.
Sadly that doesn’t fit with CCPA’s plans so we are left with ???
Isn’t it nice to see some things never change - Once and Ass always an Ass.
NB, That’s not entirely accurate, Ass’s are actually quite intelligent and can change how they do things.
Yep it’s different, oh wait no it isn’t. It’s bloody wormholes without the need to scan and direct access to highsec safety with no “new” content. Everything in Pochven is rehashed for an even more rehashed niche group of players.
The whole idea of Pochven could have been good had Devs not just copied pasted the same thing they’ve been spewing out for nearly 20 years.
Which allowed personal empires to
Which due to poor foresight during the development stages has led to what is left of the sandbox being turned into a themepark.
Where the rides that were awesome when you were 8 are still being flogged as “the best” and “new” but now you’re in your 30’s and the ferris wheel just doesn’t cut it.
Ahh the ideal. Eve how it was meant to be.
Sadly for that to come about the heads at CCP would have to admit they screwed the pooch 5 or 6 years ago and don’t know how to fix it without risking mass unsubscribing from the private empires CCP opened the door for.
As much as it was doomed to fail before it happened BlackOut was the closest CCP has come to shaking up Nulsec. They won’t risk that type of intervention again.
The last few years has been CCP punishing the whole class because a few kids don’t want to “change” and fit in. It never works because now instead of a few kids rebelling against “change”, the whole class is rebelling because being punished for something you didn’t do SUCKS.
Not really a matter of “can’t” it’s more like “won’t” because CCP gave those whiners too much and won’t risk alienating them by fixing well known issues surrounding their playstyles.
Funny that, Eve managed to “hold the interest” of thousands of players for the best part of 20 years.
Maybe, just maybe it’s CCP’s lack of direction and poor design practices in recent years that has led the “interest” of many older players to wane.
I haven’t had the desire to explore Pochven yet myself but I’m told the Observatory Flashpoint sites are a type of “new and somewhat different” content that’s worth taking a look at for small-fleet action.
It should be obvious from my posts that I don’t entirely approve of how CCP has done things. Personally I believe they ‘screwed the pooch’ around 2011 or so when they decided it was more important to funnel players into massive nullsec blocs to maximize per-player income&subs rather than continue to make EVE better. Or, maybe they just ran out of ideas and creativity.
However I don’t think CCP is just out to “punish players”. (As an aside I hear lots of mentions of Rattati saying that and also “all stick no carrot”, but I’ve never actually found a source for that. I consider it a myth until I do.) I think CCP simply has no idea how to put the “nullsec riches” genie back in the box without, as you say, mass unsubs. And I think they have tunnel vision in that all their efforts still seem to be focused on “making players join mass nullsec blocs” because they feel that’s where most of their income comes from.
The one light I see at the end of the tunnel is that, with PA outright owning CCP, they could, theoretically, sit down at some point and tell CCP “look forget the subs, we’ll absorb the cost. Just fix the game and stop the continual bleeding”. And fixing the game, IMO, requires fixing the non-null stuff first: using NPE, FW, Resource Wars, and other changes to streamline adding players to the game and transitioning them from a newbie to a potential PvPing or other playstyle.
So, many of us are cynical about CCP/EVE overall, but I don’t really believe they’ve put in their last best effort yet. Who knows, perhaps 2022 will be the beginning of a new year’s EVE.
I agree with this analogy. As I am getting more experienced and just looking around in what activities I can do PVE wise or even blending in with PVE/PVP Triglvian invasions where perfect for that. Only so many things in HS even in all of EVE as it just closes in on me. I really do get that theme park vibe from it.
I said it before and will say again: Kezrai Charzai’s posts are some of the best posts I’ve read on this forum and I have been frequenting this forum for several years now. They are the most complete, succinct and helpful posts on this forum and Shipwreck Jones is a close second.
Thank you, @Kezrai_Charzai
No worries, you’re not going crazy. Holiday rush is on so I’m not taking the time to insert all the trigger phrases that cause some readers to ignore 90% of my posts and find that one sentence they need to disagree with.
It’s a sad state of affairs when despite one’s best efforts people start to see you as the voice of reason. I mean, what is the world coming to?
TY for your kind words, I also appreciate your own posts on various topics. And I agree that Shipwreck writes some very good posts indeed!
Happy to see such positivity exchanged between my favorite forum folk.
I, too, respect @Kezrai_Charzai and have always enjoyed their posts. Props to @Daichi_Yamato for keeping it real and a gold star for @Anneloreke for seeming like a reasonable, welcome addition to the forums.
On topic: OP, it sounds as if you have expended your PvE experience. If I’m the first to tell you, sorry, but EvE is not a good PvE game.
I hope if and when you return, you decide to fly with some real rough-and-tumble dangerous people. They might give you better reason to play the least forgiving PvP spaceship strategy game I’ve yet encountered. CCP will never be your answer.
I appreciate that, thank you. I do make an effort to be reasonable on here. I don’t always succeed but I do try.
I agree. The PvE in EVE is kind of boring once the initial enchantment is gone.
I keep hoping for CCP to improve the PvE side but maybe they decided that part of the game doesn’t help their bottom line.
That’s sad. It’s their game, they shouldn’t stop improving it and polishing it, if only by pride for their work… Maybe I’m dreaming.
