Gila vs Ishtar for citadel bashing

Oï !
I have a question to ask : currently my corporation search abandoned citadels in Low Power mode through Wormhole space to destroy them. Currently we cannot attack fueled citadels even if they doesn’t have a gunner because of the lack of DPS, and use mainly T3 battlecruisers (usually Oracles, but I personaly prefer Tornado). My question is : the CEO plan to use multiple Ishtar with RR mods in the high slots in case there is a small group of defenders and drones to damage the structure, but wouldn’t Gila does approx. the same DPS for less SP investment (and a somewhat lower price) ? And instead of missiles in the highs there would be RR mods ?

Thanks in advance !

Why can’t you attack them? You only need enough DPS to pause the repair timer, which is minuscule and easy to achieve. From there it is just a time grind.
Why the Tornado over the Oracle? The ORacle requires no attention once it started shooting as T1 crystals do not break. Any other gun ships are a nightmare for structure grinding.

Ishtars are currently cheaper than Gilas. That aside I doubt they can use remote repairs as well as the Ishtar because of the worse capacitor recharge.

I’d have to theorycraft it but maybe. I just use RR VNIs for structure bashing if thinking there might be resistance and it is good enough. Likely Gila’s would work the same but as Dryver said, they are outrageously priced right now (because of the Abyss), but it depends on your numbers. You really don’t need that many to reach the minimum DPS to prevent repair (like 1-2?) and I imagine you would hit the DPS cap for a low-powered Medium Upwell structure with only 5-6 VNIs.

Ishtars are better of course, but cost significantly more than VNIs and probably won’t shave that many minutes of your structure grind unless there are only 2-3 of you. That’s just a feeling of course, and you should run the numbers, but I am not sure the increase in cost is worth the time you save, although your fleet would be more combat capable in the Ishtars if someone shows up.

The ishtar benefits from T2 resistances, better cap, and an armour tank so you can put additional cap mods in mids if needed. This all combined means you get a significantly stronger RR tank.

Also, the possibility of using sentries makes them useful for bashing POSses as well.
