Goodbye EVE?

Well this is because the reason why its called toxic is that it poisons the environment.

Those 1000 people dont all sit on their hands and say “Please stop saying that”

A good percent use that person’s negativity as an excuse to be just as negative in return, the toxicity spreading.

One must take account of one’s own instinctive reaction before even engaging in the conversation that the toxicity has manifested in.

Very true.

I accidentally left out this part of the equation and it is an important element of the chat dynamic, so thank you for adding it.

I guess I must be playing the wrong games. For an MMO, I find these forums to be less toxic than most.

I have observed that the community at large is not toxic. It’s just that the only people gregarious enough to be communicated with are also toxic.
Everybody else simply does not communicate because they are sick of the toxic minority. And this minority as usual get most of the attention.
It’s like bad drivers. You remember the knucklehead who crossed the line because he was too mindless to put the damned phone down but you don’t remember all the others who didn’t.

Yeah, I think that’s a good way to describe a lot of the arguing that goes on on the forums. It’s a bunch of nerds bickering over make-believe spaceships. Don’t get me wrong, things can sometimes get a little heated, and people do sometimes step over the line with personal attacks, but I don’t think what goes on here rises to the level of toxicity.

Of course, the forum community tends to pounce on what it considers whining. So, “forum whiners” might have a far different perspective.

The eve community is a mature but unforgiving one. It becomes whatever you make of it. Act like an adult and you’ll be treated like one. Act like a spoilt brat and you’ll be treated as such. If you’re going to insult others, expect to be insulted.

C’est la vie.

Don’t focus on the negativity and negative people. There are a lot of very nice players on EVE, they outnumber the douchebags 20 to 1 but they also concentrate on positivity so less vocal.

That is not true and you know it.
Play with the nice people and leave the mean ones in their corner.

Have to learn to ignore the trolls and the toxic players most players I have met on Eve have been really cool to hang out with. I have only met a couple of players that have been toxic and I just blocked and ignored them.

Quick, give me your opinions on capital balance, resource scarcity, and whether you prefer Kirk or Picard so that I can hate you too. :stuck_out_tongue:

For real though, you’re going to find good and bad actors in every community. Stay away from turds, and play with the guys that you enjoy playing with. If you currently find yourself in a toxic corp. Get out. Go find one that isn’t toxic. I assure you they exist. In fact, Sixth Empire might be a good place to start looking.

It used to be the only question I found hard.

Then I rewatched all of TOS

I just psyched myself to think of Picard as an old Kirk. I like them both.

Edit: Especially the new Kirk in JJ Abrams’ Star Trek. He’s so cute! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
